Quick Punto Detail

Post by Bailes1992 »

The other halfs been nagging me to go over her Punto for abit.
We've also been arguing about the colour. She thought it was pink and I knew it was red. After the detail she now agrees with me that the car is infact red
Also debadged the car ready for her new punto badge.

Before...

Shes already managed to kerb one of the brand new wheel trims I bought her

Random foot print?

General dirt...

The paint was also very dull and cloudy?

First thing we did was debadge the car.
Then the car was prewashed with snowfoam and a superspray.
The car was washed using a Lambswool Wash mitt and the TBM.

We also clayed the car and this was the worse I got...

The car was machine polished using an Autoglym Finishing pad on the PC with speeds around 2-5. I used Autoglyms super resin polish with a dash of parafin.
SRP dries out very quickly, the parafin makes it a little more oily and meaks it more spreadable and workable for longer.
Once you finish you leave polish to try. The parafin dried off and you have an extreamly thin coat of SRP on the paint with is a doddle to buff and leaves a very good base for anything ontop of it.

The car was finished off with a coat of Raceglass #55 Wax :)

Afters...

One thing that concerned me slightly was this...

The lense dosen't seem to be glued on like the Pug ones but more clipped on? So I don't understand how it's supposed to keep water out? Will have to dismantle it and find out.

All in all, quite like the way it's come out :)

Sorry chap, only kidding, nice job on the Punto btw - you can't help stroking paintwork after a clay and polish, as soon as I get a mild day I'm breaking out my last clay bar and going for it again 8)

I live, and happen to work, within 100? mtrs of busy train lines and metallic 'rail dust' is a problem for cars paintwork I found out recently - kinda like little daggers stuck in the clear coat :o

Ahhh a punto, brings back happy memories of my first car, slightest bit of moisture and it would spin it's wheels in the first 3 gears.
I liked to tell myself it was due to it's raw power !!!!!
May have had something to do with budget tyres and the mahoosive 1.1 engine not having a great deal of weight in it :D

Mind you it went well fully laden taking the kids to the welsh coast over some pretty big hills

There was a lanyards group buy. The guy who was doing it just dissapeered with £300 of members money(including mine, I ordered two lanyards). The mods kept trying to brush it under the mat, trying to protect the guy who did the group buy? I wouldn't keep quiet and after 6 months of waiting I wanted to know what was going on. They banned me because I wouldn't keep my trap shut :|

Go to a Fiat dealer and ask about it, all you'll get back is blank faces and "It's supposed to keep water out?"
