ZOMFG!!!

Post by Blue406 »

I will never diss Ford again.

My Brother just turned up with his hire car for a weekend trip. A 4 month old Ford Mondea 2.0 TDCI Titanium.

This thing was like the starship f*cking enterprise on wheels. Cruise, speed limiter, dual climate control, all the bells and whistles. Gorgeous dashboard with a screen in it that will put most PC flat screen monitors to shame.
Even has voice recognition so you can tell it to do things without lifting a finger.
And it goes like stink with a 6 speed gear box and power all through 1K to 5K revs! Smooth ride, traction control to make sure you don't over do it and utterly silent.

A definate contender for my next car! And I never thought I'd say that.
Before today I would have rather tore off my own testicles, flash fried them and ate them with tomato sauce than consider a Ford.
Sure, it will never look as good as the coupe and I'm keeping her till something forces her out of my hands. (write off most likely). But when it's time to get another car... a Ford Mondea 2.0 TDCI Titanium will be at the top end of my list.

How much of all that stuff will need depressingly expensive repairs by the time they're old enough for us to afford them? :(

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Bit of a pattern here....

Some of us appear genetically disposed to the sequence of 406 saloon, then coupe, then mondeo. :?

We'll have to keep an eye on Highlander, Nutski and of course mjb.

The tdci engine is the same as my 407 and the Volvo C30, S40, etc.

There is no doubt the Mondeo has become a really good car over the years, a really sorted rep mobile.

I'm hoping the new 508 sw's will depreciate like a bomb :cheesy:

There's no doubt at all that the HDi is a very good engine.

Doggy - no freakin' way - this car drives so smoothly (even better now the cambelt has been done - placebo effect? Or is it likely to have really improved matters?), and looks so damned good; I'm not getting rid for a while yet! And when I do, I'd love to have at least 2 more cylinders, maybe 4 more if the budget allows (and the fuckin' fuel prices get back down again  )

Cambelt? The 2.0 TDCI's are chain driven?

I've got a MK3 Mondeo (2003 reg) running a 130 2.0 TDCI and granted, it's absolutely amazing with the 6 speed gear box but at the same time, it's an utter pain in the ass.

Since the day I bought it (july 2010) I've spent £1400 on it.

4 New injectors, 2 crankshaft oil seals etc.

It's still leaking oil :|

I used to get 66mpg and now it's 42mpg :(

Large French cars usually do, but here's something intriguing. Looked on the Peugeot website the other day & it actually turned out cheaper to buy a brand new 508 than it did to buy a brand new 407.

the mondeo is nice, but i prefer a c5, i think its even better looking than the 508, a nice navy coloured estate might be the next car hopefully.

the v6 sounds good but in the current economic climate the 1.6 hdi isnt bad sounding engine.
