I worked this out when diesel was £1.25 a litre (at my local its now £1.32 and i can see it rising)
Diesel @ £1.25 per litre
Vegetable oil (Macro) @ 86p per litre
Say hypothetically you get 10 miles to 1 litre (pretty close to 1.9TD's MPG anyway)
Diesel: 5000 miles = 500 Litres so 500 (litres) x £1.25 = £625
Vegetable oil: 5000 miles = 500 Litres so 500 (litres) x £0.86 = £430
Saving = £195
Correct me if I'm wrong (i probably am, haven't done much maths for a couple of years)
I expect to do 10,000 miles this year so would save Just under £400.
Also in real terms of how much does 2 gallons cost
Diesel £1.30 a litre. 2 Gallons = £10.40
Morrisons Veg Oil £1.03 a litre. 2 Gallons = £8.24
Macro Veg Oil £0.90 a litre. 2 Gallons = £7.20
Difference = £3.20 (nearly another gallon at macros price)
Hope that helps
