Multiplex
When did the multiplex of the wiring happen, what parts changed, if i take the drivers window switch off a pre multiplex is it different than a multiplex. The same with stuff like the climate control, mfd sat nav (if equipped) etc.
Just want to know this if i go to break this car how to describe the parts better. Also about this sat nav drive i bought.

Re: Multiplex
Why don't you just stick both VINs into Service Box and see if different part numbers come up?

Re: Multiplex
From what I've seen it came in on Y plates over here which would be sometime after March 2001. Most things would be the same, but the main parts that I know are different are the steering wheel & airbag, stereo & obviously the stalk assembly which is the Comm2000 set up on the multiplex models. Seats are fine for both as mine came from a multiplex model & all of the airbag plugs were the same.

Re: Multiplex
The stereo had different wiring into the back of it. Same type of plugs, but the wires were in different places. Know this because when I was looking for an adaptor to change my stereo, there were different types for multiplex & non-multiplex.

Re: Multiplex
i have confirmed its all ok, after searching servicebox for 406 navigation i found that the Main CD drive is part 6563R7 for both saloon and coupe. The same is the case with the dipslay itself part 656361

Re: Multiplex
after spending £100 on an outdated bit of technology, it will be carefully placed into the car, if it doesnt work it will be carefully put in a box and sold again.
Its not too hard, someones even made a guide on retrofitting the satnav.

Re: Multiplex
wrong side, the sat nav one is on the right hand side, pull the carpet out of the way and you will see a blue multi connector and a relay connector. Im hoping the display bit fits the same plug as the MFD
