How not to sell a car

Post by Roylewaa »

Had a bit of laugh reading the advert for this Punto on ebay, talk about focusing on the negatives, although its a Fiat so is their any positives

The wife wants me to bid on it for her, I feel its too far gone, and probably been thrashed to death

Small fiats are superb wee cars.
The punto is good but i preferred the driving experience of the panda.
Whatever one you get a small fiat needs to be petrol and you need to drive the shite clean out of it. The panda did 40mpg at the worst of times. And even more smiles per gallon than a ferrari can give.

People will laugh about puntos,
but unless youve owned one you wont know how good they are,
theyre a brilliant car for women to drive on the Actives theres a city mode press abutton and the steering will lighten up,
My wifes uncle as got a punto Active he went to london in it the other day to pick someone up from airport,
he was touching 110mph coming back,
its been ragged since he bought it 2 years ago and its never missed a beat, 8)

you know the secret city mode as well.
I thought it was great it made a big difference from wheighty steering to steering you could turn with one finger. Although sometimes it was good for a bit of handbraking. All things you must do in a small fiat.

Mate had a Cinquecento, was a cracker wee car. Was like a go kart. Was tempted to buy it off him as a 2nd car/toy when he was selling, but it was starting to get a few dabs of rust.

Farmer is right about Belfast Gumtree. It would be advertised:

That Fiat %$&? is a classic example of what happens when you GIVE a car to the kids. They ruin it. :frown:

They should have made them work, save, buy, then look after - didn't do me any harm :|

It is a shame, as to be honest I don't mind Punto's, the wife likes it, if the price had been maybe a scratch lower and the purse strings so tight at to mo i'd have gone to have a look at it

Previous experience with italian cars has made me a little sceptical, ! once had a Alfa 155, was a lovely car to look at and drive, just turned out it had no floor when I took it for an MOT, and it was only 9 years old

I had an Alfa GTV which was a gorgeous car and the twinspark made an amazing noise in the higher end of the rev counter.

But it ate suspension bushes, the cat fell off and the fusebox was burnt out

Mine was a 2 litre twinspark, sounded awesome as it had a full powerflow exhaust that cost me 280 quid, handled great aswell as it had the optional sportpack, 16" speedlines, stiffened suspension, momo interior

God I miss that car, I sent it off to a car auction and it sold for 75 quid :( Didnt have internet at the time otherwise I'd have broke it and probably made good money, those speedlines are rare as hens teeth

It was just a weekend car, as the diesel Mondeo in the pic was my daily driver at the time, and the white Calibra was a project I was tinkering with

I would have another Alfa as a weekend car.

As a day-to-day driver the suspension gets wrecked and the electrics are too temperamental.
