Post by steve_earwig »

Made it in one big bit too :cheesy:

Howdy folks!! Ahhh, you know you're in the UK when some twat in an old 5 series tries to ram you on a roundabout  Quite the worst bit of driving I'd seen in 3 days driving across Europe too

What has happened to the driving here anyway? What of lane disciplin? Thing of the past? 55mph on the middle lane of the M25, what the f...???

Just about to starting moving cars about in preparation for taking mine to bits, the seats look luvverley :cheesy: :cheesy:

Welcome to the UK, Steve!

Lane discipline and good driving disappeared long before I started driving. Quite a number of utter arseholes on the roads these days.

Only this morning, I was turning right at a T-junction (turning off the main road onto the side road), and some twat in a Vauxhall Vectra behind me honked their horn at me and flicked me the Vees as I was turning. Why? No idea. I wasn't taking ages about the turn, and there wasn't any on-coming traffic holding me up. I just came to the conclusion that he was an impatient, jumped-up little dickhead.

The Wifely Person also told me yesterday that she'd seen a car knock over a cyclist at a roundabout (the car was in the right lane but wanted to go straight ahead, and didn't bother indicating they were leaving the roundabout - so the cyclist went straight in front of the car). THEN the cyclist gets up and cycles off, lucky to be alive - and the car FOLLOWS the cyclist, honking his horn, flashing his lights, and shouting and swearing at him. W. T. F.

Anyway, glad you made it back to the UK in one piece, and hope your leather interior conversion goes according to plan. Photos required! :cheesy:

Glad you made it ok Steve

Driving standards, mmmm, there isn't any anymore  :( :( :( :(

I was going round a roundabout the other day, indicating till I got till the exit before I wanted to leave on, indicated left, and moved to the left, and someone in a transit shot out from the exit before, and tried to dive down the inside of me
Now I had right of way, and if you actually look in the highway code, the other driver contravenes around 5 or 6 regulations
Anyway, i'm fan of rewarding bad driving, so I didn't let him in
I was stopping in 100 yards, so pulled over
The other guy got out, and said If he ever seen me drive like that again he'd knock me out
Got back in his van and shouted that I shouldn't have a driving licence

What a joke!!!

55 in the middle lane!!!
How about the idiots who are doing less than 55, refuse to move out the middle lane, so if you are in a lorry, HAVE to undertake them
I don't like doing it, but needs must as I can't go out in the fast lane

Anyway, better shut up, this is turning into a Rant into driving as opposed to welcoming Steve over here for his "holiday"

Welcome back to the UK Steve :D

My son has just gone back from being over from Sweden where he now lives (11 years now), he doesn't like the way things are here these days, he was very disappointed to see how things have gone downhill since his last visit for his mother's funeral 4 years ago.

Anyway, enjoy your stay and all the best :D
