Suzuki Issues
im trying to buy a new carb for my suzuki. i need an su hif44 and this is one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 500wt_1156
but what puts me off is the questions in the bottom, someone thinks its a hif38. I dont know what the difference is, does anyone here know what it is or if the difference is significant.

Re: carburettor help
its gone now.
but from what i understand after a bit of googling the hif38 is for a smaller engine it wouldnt let my 1.6 breathe as well as the hif44 so there would be less power.
I plan to put a SU carb in there is no electrics sh*t on them like the standard one which is all that ruins the suzuki engines.

Re: carburettor help
a webber sounds good, but su carburettors are simpler and more reliable, apparently the one to get for the suzuki and its off road adventrues.
the original aisan (might be spelt wrong) they are shite, the old 1.3 was taken out because of carb problems, i changed the plugs, filters, oil dizzy cap rotor arm ht leads and it ran like a dog the idle was always wrong, and it smoked badly sometimes backfiring, there was no power which with the 1.3 was a problem as it didnt have much to begin with.
So with the new engine the aisan carb was good, but i know after a bit of driving the way i drive they soon give up so i want to put an su carb in quickly, apparently they give more power.

had some fun with them it was either jets or the filter/strainer ihad probs with,
japs are prone for picking up sand in the carbs making them Kangaroo,
Mixture might of been out thats why yours smoked all carbs are service-able

Re: carburettor help
they are serviceable, but i didnt have a clue and nor did my mechanic although a carburettor whiz only worked on austins and fiats back in his heyday so thats why he also advises the su carb. he worked on webbers but say they give trouble.
Re: carburettor help
ialways got less trouble with a webber tbh,
and when iwas building cars for banger racing ialways tried to get a Webber on.. there as good as a carb can get on some cars,
nissans we just used to take the carbs apart remove any filters strainers and make a cover for top of carb out of a coca cola bottle to stop it sucking gravel in,
there will be something out there that will fit it thats reliable,
if its not going on the road it wouidnt matter if you modify one to fit wouid it ?

Re: carburettor help
I'll need my cousin to weld a plate on the manifold to take the su carb
Off roading needs simplicity and I go through mucky dusty and gravelly places in it
