filling coolant from empty

i'll be fitting a new radiator tomorrow and bottom hose so i need to know how to fill the coolant properly to get rid of air leaks.

anyone able to help.
Past car - D9 2.2 SRi estate, sleeper, family wagon & general hauler!

IIRC on the HDi there are 3 bleed valves, on mine did 1 at a time, ran the engine til heating point (90 degreees or so) before doing the radiator one.
Howto or Haynes should be a good starting point

Look for a plastic screw on top of the radiator, open this first (if it has one) before you fill the radiator.

also once the coolant system seems full. leave the cap off the filling tank and allow the engine to get upto temperature so the thermostat opens allowing air to escape that may be trapped in the engine.

How may bleed valves are on the 2.2 petrol?

I suspect it'll sill be 3 - one on the pipe to the heater matrix, one on the thermostat housing and one on the radiator. Have a squint though, you never know.

Don't forget to do them up tight afterwards :roll:
