Er,Dunno sam,
Maybe the Autos are abit slower,

Have you not tried putting someone on your insurance,
if you add another driver it couid lower it.

thats what iwas told idont Know if thats true or not, but one insurer told me if iadded My wife to the cover it wouid lower it by £90 or so, but ipassed on that as idont see why ishouid as ive got over 6yrs N.c.b and never had a claim other than when iwas a passenger in avehicle that was Rear-ended and the driver of that vehicle insurer dealt with that not mine.
iwas in abad way tho or else iwouidnt of claimed,

None of it adds,up.
when ifirst started driving i insured a 2.0 MG Maestro E.f.I and that was something like £1,200 full comp (Eagle star that was lol)
that was because of my age then,
but Im still getting the same stupid prices now as idid then, its madness, but aspose its all them personal injury claims there paying out on thats causing that, :(

Perhaps they figure an automatic HDi is more likely to be driven by an old fart

Go for the auto, make sure it all works on the test drive & change the oil first thing.

My lad was 20, with 2 year's full licence at his last renewal. Got his 1.8 diesel focus insured for about £900, by adding his mum to the policy, so lozz is right there. Give it a try.

Check out insurance for a diesel fucus?

I pay over £700 for mine
If I bought a 110 SE i'd pay £370
When I looked at that 407 SW HDi170 XS Sport 2.2 Bi-turbo I could get insured for £354

Does that make sense?..............not one bit!

My Insurance is in my name with my parents as named drivers.
I have 1yrs NCB.
I have a few mods declared (Audio gear). but if it dosent increase engine performance I don't pay anything as I'm only Third partyfire & Theft.

I've gone past the silly driving stage now, I put my foot down on long straights but I rarley push my car through corners or anything any more.
I spend allot of time just wafing about and now I'm doing an apprentaship I might be all over the country.

So and Auto with Cruise Control is starting to make sense to me, ecspecially If I'l save a few £££ on insurance :)

Of course I'l change the oil straight away with only peugeot gearbox oil and I'l change it every year after that.
Do the autos have a clutch like a manual does?

Er no, they have clutches (but you shouldn't need to do anything with them throughout the life of the car)

You shouldn't need to change the oil that often, quite a few gearboxes are "sealed for life" these days but you're best off ignoring that one.

Thats one less thing i'l have to worry about then. Will they handle the power of a remap though?

And I will change the oil once a year, just for peice of mind :)
I had to change my DT's oil every 3 months or I wouldn't be able to get it in 3rd

Just had a look.
The HDi110 Auto is about as fast as a 1.9DT or HDi90.
So pretty slow, but pleanty fast enough.
I imagine with a remap it would make it more driveable and improve economy though.
Big question though, can the auto box handle the power?

I can't figure out from Service Box which auto' 'box the HDi has but whatever it is I'd imagine it'd be the same 'box as the 2.2 HDi anyway, so I guess it'll be fine.

Ok turns out the site had a funny turn last night.

2.0 HD110 SE Manual - £256 extra
2.0 HDi110 SE automatic - £255.84 extra
2.0 HDi90 Rapier Manuel - £84.37 extra
2.0 HDi110 Executive Manual - £253.74 Extra
Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDDi115 Ghia X Manual - £150

Bare in mind I only have 6 months left on this policy, you can garuntee when I go to renew it will make these figures double.
I think a Rapier 90 is going to be best. I can add the 110 IC, Decat it and get it remapped for ~130bhp and improved economy.
I can also pay to get the interior retrimmed in leather and add cruise control.
It'l have to do :)
