icarnt keep this quiet and it gets on my nerves at times,
How is it people can join a forum post a few questions get help and Guides etc All free of charge etc,
and then Hit the forsale section Free of charge no ebay fees etc,
and try to sell off stuff More Expensive than Ebay prices!! (ffs were not all rich if we was we wouidnt be driving 406s )

Re: Not trying to cause an argument or owt but
this is a good site, any problems ive had with my car i get them solved on here, its bound to have saved me a good bit of money avoiding dealers.
And the general chat thing is a great job for all the banter we have.
I suppose its ok for new members to try and sell a 406 on here, better here with all us 406 owners, but its a different story if you join up and the first thing you try and sell is not 406 related.

1, if you dont like it dont buy it
or
2,make it that you have to have 250 posts before you can use the for sale/wanted sectiom
the advantage of this is that they would have particpated in the forum so you could get a feel about them, the disadvantage is that you might miss out on a bargin off someone wanting to get rid of something cheap
of course this is one for the admins who should also make sure that no one can register unless they but a rough location[eg with in 10 miles] in there sig

Lozz if you dont like it, dont buy it, if its a bargain then buy it. job done.
we all had to start somewhere and if new members only want to use the for sale section and not participate then it will soon be noted by the rest of the members or mods/admins and some sort of action taken, even if its just ignoring any posts by said members.
now as i said name names you b1tch

Re: Not trying to cause an argument or owt but
I know who Lozz is talking about - just check his recent posts & you'll see. There are several ways of looking at it though. Yes it is a bit cheeky, but by setting restrictions, some of us could miss out on potential bargains like the £150 Exec turbo that got posted up recently.
The Mondeo forum I used to use needed members to be Gold (paid) members to post in the For Sale sections. That was a pretty good solution, but this forum doesn't have a paid option anywhere & it's probably for the best as we can save our money to fix the next random electrical fault that occurs on our cars!
The best way to look at it is that if people want to advertise things on here for silly prices, chances are nobody will buy them & they'll just go elsewhere. Have to admit that I may have fallen into this category myself a couple of times (several sets of alloys & an SRi interior), but I've spent that much on the car in the 18 months I've had it that I'm just trying not to lose a fortune on the bits I've bought, but not used & I've always just stuck things on Ebay if nobody was interested.

Yeah, Minipug, I thought £150 was too much as well.. make it £50

I see it as six and half a dozen
Yes, it is a bit cheeky, as all some people do is join a forum to sell stuff
It is like buying something off eBay from a seller with no feedback
There is no peace of mind involved
If someone was on here and participated, then happened to sell stuff, then fair enough
On the other hand, if it's cheap enough................
I'm not 100% but maybe it's the £70 driveshaft that has set Lozz on posting this thread?
If you can get it off eBay cheaper and from someone with feeedback
well, I know which route i'd be taking
The £150 executive is definately one we should be grateful for
I don't necessarily want one, but hey, even I was tempted, although I think the misses would chew my sack off, as supposed to be spending the money on redecorating the bathroom and our bedroom at mo
I do frequent forums where there is a minimum of 10 posts before selling stuff, but then you risk people spamming away just to reach their target, and then would be detrimental to the forum because of all the drivel posted
If it's parts, then i'll generally stick to my normal routess of sourcing parts, but if it's a car, then I don't have a problem as much - a car is a gamble anyway isn't it

Re: Not trying to cause an argument or owt but
I think of ebay like a supermarket. Everything in bulk at fairly consistent prices, the occasional bargain.
Forum sale section is more like a market. Some great bargains, but also some stuff dearer than ebay because maybe instead of having a large dismantling depot operation, they have a 406 at the back of the yard that they'll fetch parts for if anyone requests.

Re: Not trying to cause an argument or owt but
ebay prices are so expensive, its really easy as a seller to do a good deal. For example on ebay a suzuki vitara headlight £20 for one with £10 postage, im doing the pair of headlights for £20 with £8 postage.
Re: Not trying to cause an argument or owt but
one of the landrover forums im on has the same trouble with folk registering then without asking a question then selling stuff in the for sale section, theyve set a 10 post minimum limit before getting access to the sales section
anyway id sooner buy off someones whos wellknown on the forum or someone on eblag with a decent feedback

To be honest I rarely check the For sale section, it doesn't really interest me. If a post doesn't interest you just scan over it!
There was some plonker that joined a while back and their first post was selling a private number plate! That one hit the bin
