The first lighting of the dreaded service light

Post by DiscoPol »

Set off from work at 8pm local time, got 200 metres down the road and i heard the sound we all dread....BONG.....STOP........SERVICE.

A cold chill ran through my blood as i frantically searched the myriad of bloody screens for the one telling me how much it was gonna cost, I pulled over immediately and flicked through the screens till i found the problem, it was

Left Rear Tyre Deflated :(

bloody great screw in the centre of the tread so it should be repairable (the pressure had dropped by about 7-8 psi), i hope so as the michelin primacy tyres that are on are £175 quid each in the uk and thats from black circles and they are usually pretty cheap
Checked out the price here and they are around the 700 PLN mark which is about 155 quid :frown:

Still the hydrobollox suspension did make changing to the spare a doddle, press button for up, wait till fully up stick jack under and turn handle about 5 times and its off the ground wheel changed and all stored away in less than 8 mins,

I just need to find a decent tyre place tomorrow that i can trust with my shiny new alloys and hopefully one that understands the TPMS gubbins, does anybody know how that stuff works and where the sensors etc are?

Tyres cheaper in Poland than in the UK? I dread to think how much they'd cost here.

Have a look on ebay for pics, they seem to be a block that's on the back of the valve inside the tyre. Errr, radio?

Strange isn't it? All that hi-tech gubbins does it's job perfickly and you still have a sphincter loosening moment or two, thinking, 'Oh you stupid ferkin eejit! Whydya buyitt!' etc. until it dawns on you all is well on planet BSI. (T-shirt available, etc. etc.).

Love to help, but official secrets / export of technology to former eastern bloc states, what? Before you know it, T80 main battle tanks will have it and be able to evade the only plane the RAF are able to borrow for the afternoon....

i think its possible to drive a citroen on 2 wheels (not on the same side) and the hydropneumatic system can stop it falling over.

if there the same/similar to whats on the 407 be VERY careful when you unscrew the dustcap, its very common for them to be corroded and snap off when force is used to remove them. fortuanatly there are repair kits around for them and the cheapest is a landrover part selling at about £10 on ebay, dunno about postage to poland tho!!
