Defo a joke

A 'cliosport' has such a narrow power band the knob will be in constant use, (by the knob driving it), therefore will not get cold.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

even if this was a problem and the only thing i can imagine it being a problem on is a massey ferguson 135 thats been sitting outside on a frosty night, as opposed to making a gearstick warmer why not wear gloves, or be a man and put up with the cold.

ithink the old landrovers needed some sort of warming device,
my uncles 1972 landy as Metal type steering wheel, irember having my hands welded too it with the frost
only ever drove the Thing 5 miles and that was enough for me!
if anyone wants to Moan about a cold car they want to drive one of them things, :cheesy:

our 135 until last year had a metal steering wheel (the rubber had worn away) again adding to the sensation of driving it on a cold december morning, which i had to do quite a bit to take water to the cattle. That numb feeling was quite common. I tried putting my hands on the exhaust which didnt work they just burnt, what works and you may not believe it but it works, take a handful of snow and rub your hands together really fast at first it makes the numbing worse but after about 10 seconds your hands warm up but without the cramp you get from putting them on a radiator or exhaust. And once you get rid of the numbness once thats usually it away for the rest of the day.

Ha.. ithink it was warmer out side than it was inside the Landrover,
Icarnt call it tho as its still in mint condition and its older than iam, its on the Histhorical list now, Free road tax and it will run off anything oily,(Iwouidnt ave one tho, ) :?
Igot offerd a 4wd Mitsubishi the otherday off a mate, the Engine is Massive in it, 3.6 derv, asaid how do you insure that thing and is it Expensive,
he then explained about paying so much a year to a Farmers union or something and in return he gets Cheap insurance,
think he said £280 a year Fully comp,
im tempted at having a bash at it if thats true,

do you know anything about this Farmers union thing frank ?

ahy farmers union do cheap insurance for any tractors forklifts ect and a farmers car, my uncle owns the farm so he can insure the pickup for peanuts, but i cant get my car insured with them because firstly in the wrong age category for them, and my uncle wont put my car down as part of the farm machinery for tax reasons etc. So really i think you need to own a farm.
The free tax and being allowed to run it on red is only for a few miles from your farm.

What sort of mitsubishi is that with a 3.6 diesel, the biggest mitsi diesel was 3.2. The nissan patrol had the biggest diesel a 4.0. but they were big non turbo things that guzzled diesel without giving much power, even the new hilux its a guzzler, the one top gear tried to destroy was the best a 2.4 diesel farily economical and quick enough because it was light.

heres one of them patrols:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p
the performance figures are all right 170bhp is a lot but not much torque compared to modern 4x4s, and the mpgs are awful, youd be better off with a petrol jeep cherokee, theyd do better mpg on petrol and take lpg conversion very well.

that generation was a good shogun, they all are good but my uncle had a newer swb one which gave a lot of trouble. That older one seemed more robust though which an other uncle had about 10 years ago. Although he replaced it with a smaller suzuki grand vitara 2.0 td, the one i showed with the hdi, its never gave any trouble (japanese electrics worked a treat on the french engine) and its economical.
Fuel consumption is the biggest issue on them jeeps.

Gloves? On an NI country man? "Geez, bai! Whaats wrang wi' yir mans hands hai!" :D

That's the proper way to do it, not the way Alfa/Nissan did it for the Arna!

Worked well for the Corolla diesel with the XUD, although the last Primera was, by all accounts, a bit *too* french...

the full fat french 406 turned out quite well though.
dont worry ive never wore a pair of gloves outside, the only time i wear them is doing mechanicing to the jeep and its not for my sake its for the sake of the 406s interior.

the last primera feels no different to drive than my clio, you have the same crap gearstick that feels like its connected to the gearbox with a system of chewing gum and flexible rulers, which despite feeling so vague is capable of bopping up in down while you speed up or slow down, and because its like a renault the steering has no contact with the wheels, its like driving from a remote location on a games console, its actually a bit dangerous because sometimes you dont know how much to turn in, and the primera hybird didnt fare out too well, it didnt get french levels of comfort the seats are hard and flat, and its jittery over bumpy surfaces.
