About 3 seconds so roughly a kilometre, which is somewhere down by the gas station. We've been having some right cracking storms lately, a couple of weeks back as I was heading (running) from the car to the house one was right overhead, no rumble before or after, it was like someone fired a cannon. We've only been struck once here, it fried the cordless phone.

This started out because my brother said he was missing storms so I just stuck the camera out of the window to record the sound. At the time you were having a bijou drought-ette back in blighty, I sent the sound file I made of the storm to my brother who played it over his stereo and his neighbours rushed out into the garden and brought the washing in  A few days later he was playing it to our dad and he had to phone me up because it finally started raining

weather is a passion of mine, and was hoping to catch some storms this summer so i could do some filming, tho like you steve i aint got no fancy camera or owt. but alas the storm shield is holding firm here in fact i moved to my house 8 years ago and aint had a decent storm , and by decent i mean at least an hour long with good close up lightning like you got there since i moved here:cry: i am a member of a weather website and they organise storm chasing in the u.s. 1600 quid for a week. thats on the list of things to do before i die..
some good shots there steve, as said above some look very close, just wish i could catch one!! keep it up!!
