Sorry, no idea lozz - mine was poverty spec....

Xsara's a good little underated car, the early one's a 306 in disguise, (but at least a grand less when I bought mine).

Yours, I think is the 307 floorpan IIRC

Don't know about the sat nav, but the cd changer in mine kind of stuck out from the boot floor towards the passenger side. You'd know it if you saw it because it looks ridiculous where it isn't actually right at the edge.

Mine just had the normal display though. Think it was in between the switches for the electric windows on the centre of the dash.

ive had anosey in the boot, and theres elastic strap thingies :? no sighn of any brackets or spaces where it a changer couid live,
dont know what them Straps are for,

on the subject of the switches for the elecy windows iwas thinking how Naff they are, what a pathetic place to have them.
all in all ithink its an Ugly looking motor but its Comfy and smooth, the Headlights are Yuck too,
build quality is pathetic - ionly had it an hour and after a test drive on the motorway inoticed the chrome strip off the grille had gone :(

That chrome strip on the grill is a nightmare. Mine got glued on before it got sold. Did it also take the top Citroen chevron off with it? Mine did.

I thought it was a silly place for the switches & agree it has an ugly front end. They did look better towards the end when they fitted the foglights in the bumper, but the pre-facelift ones looked better overall. Apart from that though, I quite liked it. Didn't have it for long as I only bought it to make some pocket money on, but it was a bloody quick economical motor.

i wouldnt say its ugly just a bit anomonous facelifted ones were nicer. my aunt had one of the petrols no fancy mfd though. build quality was definatley not germanic but still better than a metro or
maestro which she had before it.

I was a Citroen owner in a couple of previous lifes.

The Xsara is based on the 306/ZX floorpan. The ZX was a great handling wee car and very comfortable. Well put together in my opinion.

I also had a 99 Xantia petrol, very reliable. It had a connector for a CD changer, but no changer. I think the changer would live in the boot. I got one off a Shogun but never got round to making it work.

ive took out the standard radio and fitted something better,
theres no changer to be found, :(

Getting the same things as igot with the 406 when ichanged the radio in that,
the new system goes off, open the car door it comes back to life, :?

and the anoying beeps from the Mfd, seems this French critter is Multiplexed too just like the 406s.

@ waue, the Citreon badge on the grille still remains its just the chrome bits that flew off,

this car is not Growing on me at the moment, its comfy, but as for it being a Modern car its build Quality is very poor,
The clutch pedal is mega heavy no where near as light as a 406,
the interior is pathetic :frown:

here is a picture of the dash out of one:
http://www.whatcar.com/car-reviews/used ... es/23508-5
but is the sat nav the same as the type c sat nav in the 406?

if you think the build quality is bad take my mums clio, so many panels that are just loosley set in place.

heres a nice diesel:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p
not a bad looking car on the outside but the interior is let down a bit, and no climate control.

Cable clutch ;)
Will need replacing. If I was you I would get a flywheel off an XU petrol engine (GTi 6/Xsara VTS, 2.0/1.8 Petrol 306/Xsara)
A Clutch from a 1.9TD engine, along with the clutch fork from a 1.9TD gearbox and a 1.9TD clutch cable.
Much better clutch overall and can handle much more power :)

@ frank..

the 406 & the zara mfds are 50/50 mate,

same board /same conector, but the screen is slightly smaller on the zara ,

itried a 406 one in it ,my old one out of the 406 with the cracked screen, out of curiosity, it worked,

zara vs clio. id say clio was a better car, in all honesty,

That's the exact same display as was in the SX I had. Even has the funky fake wood. The shot of the boot also shows you where the cd changer would live.
