Bugger... just seen a set of white faced clocks with the silver rings, dont fancy my 106k + 200K off the donor clocks lololhighlander wrote:From what I gather, it's recorded on both. If the mileage on the clocks differs from the mileage on the ECU, I understand that the car adds them together... so, watch out if you need to swap clocks over from another car...
If the scales on the donor clocks match the scales on your clocks (i.e the max speed and max RPM are the same on both), then there's no harm in splitting the clocks and swapping the parts.iangt4 wrote:Bugger... just seen a set of white faced clocks with the silver rings, dont fancy my 106k + 200K off the donor clocks lolol
This is what i am planning on doinghighlander wrote:If the scales on the donor clocks match the scales on your clocks (i.e the max speed and max RPM are the same on both), then there's no harm in splitting the clocks and swapping the parts.iangt4 wrote:Bugger... just seen a set of white faced clocks with the silver rings, dont fancy my 106k + 200K off the donor clocks lolol
The backing (which carries the clock faces) is a removable component, as are the needles. You could buy the clocks, take them apart, and put the white backing at the red needles from these clocks on to yours.
Because you're not transplanting any of the electronics, your mileage remains as-is.
Be sure to take very careful note of the position of the needles on your clocks before you remove them, so that you can put the replacement needles on at exactly the same position/reading.

PP2000 can read the total mileage, (in kms), but I don't believe you can alter it.
ive already split them once when i had a "sticky back plastic" affairFarmerPug wrote:splitting the clocks is definatley a good choice, i followed the guide off the coupe club, its definatley the best way to avoid the mileage problem.
Might as well cover them you know. Next year's MOT will be looking at themiangt4 wrote:ive already split them once when i had a "sticky back plastic" affairFarmerPug wrote:splitting the clocks is definatley a good choice, i followed the guide off the coupe club, its definatley the best way to avoid the mileage problem.just to realise that i would be covering every warning light possible, so i put them back together

- you've not noticed you haven't got one of those then, Ianiangt4 wrote: i'll just wire every warning light up to the oil pressure light
