Citroen C5 Estate Boot Floor
Is there anybody anywhere that has access to an older shape C5 estate that can have a look at the boot floor for me please? Have been very seriously considering getting a C5 2.2 HDi hatch (much cheaper, more readily available & comfier than the 406 2.2s), but it would now appear that I can't get away with not having 7 seats for some while yet.
However, having seen a C5 estate on Ebay, the shape of the boot looks very similar to a 406 & the seats in the cabin look to have very much the same mounting points front & rear. Bearing this in mind, I'm now curious to know if it would be possible to fit the extra boot seats from a 406 Family (like mine) into the back of a C5. Have had a look on Servicebox & the Citroen equivalent, but the boot floors look different. Then did a bit of interweb research & found references to Citroen beating Peugeot to the type 2 floorpan with the C5, so then compared the C5 boot floor to the 407 & they still look a bit different.
If anybody has access to one, all I'm looking for is to see if there are any extra holes or blanking plugs under the boot carpet & if anybody can get a pic of it, that would be fantastic. Have a feeling I'm probably looking at a lost cause as I can't believe nobody would have thought of it already if it was possible, but you have to try these things...

Re: Citroen C5 Estate Boot Floor
Are estate car rear boot seats still legal? Don't see them anymore.
Re: Citroen C5 Estate Boot Floor
I highly doubt that they would be compatible - different platforms.
As for a 7 seater, if you are actually carrying people - do it properly and buy a MPV. To be honest, sitting someone in the crumple zone of a car, isn't something i'm massively keen on (only unless if I hate them)....

Re: Citroen C5 Estate Boot Floor
The seats really are occasional use only anyway, but it would seem that I can't get away with losing them for good just yet. Have done the MPV thing already & this was how I ended up with the 406. All of the MPVs in the sub £3k bracket seem to come with inherent faults. The favourite was a Zafira, but the petrol engines are too short geared & at the time the diesels were too expensive.
Am really wanting a 2.2 HDi at the moment & would also like the C5s wafty suspension - had one before (2006), but had to get rid of it as nobody outside the dealer network could do anything with the FAPs. If only deFAPping had been done back then...

I'm not having his C5. I'd keep banging my elbow on the door everytime I tried to change gear!dogslife wrote:Psssst! Looks like Disco's already in the market for another 406....
Seriously though, hopefully I can help him out on it as Reading is just under an hour away from me. I've sent Teddyboy a PM to see if I can make some kind of arrangement to get it out of his way so that either Disco (or anybody else that would need to make travel arrangements) can take it or maybe even use it myself so that I can sell mine & look for the right C5. Have a feeling the seat transfer will be a no-go, but was originally looking to get a hatch anyway as you don't have to park 2 feet away from the bollards in the supermarket car park to get the boot open!
The 7 seat requirement stems from potential Irish visitors & the fact that I now pick up 3 on the return from school run as well as having Jack in the car. Okay if it's just them, but if the Mrs has left the scooter at home, it means I have to go back out to pick her up rather than doing it in the same trip.

Re: Citroen C5 Estate Boot Floor
Confusing this,
what was the c5 based off,
google throws up mention of Xantia,
was there ever a 7 seater xantia?

You guys would probably be easier!sirwiggum wrote:You're picking Farmerpug and me up?
Our visitors come from the South, Athlone to be precise.
Never a 7 seat Xantia or C5. To be honest, I didn't even look at Xantia boot parts on Citroen Service because I already know that the boot floor on those is massively different from a 406 due to the spare wheel being under the car, but there are already a few visible similarities between C5s & 406s elsewhere. The rear seats (from hatch or estate) for example have the exact same mounting points (& even the same metal bits under the base) as the 406 estate. This actually gives a bit of hope for anybody looking to get a rear armrest in their 406 estate as the C5s have one.lozz wrote:Confusing this,

Also, if you look at pictures taken from the boot of a C5 & 406 estate, the shape of the boot area looks very much the same.
Would be utterly brilliant if it is possible to add the seats, but as I said earlier, I'm pretty sure somebody would have done it already if it was. Incidentally, if anybody was going to suggest it, I wouldn't want one of those aftermarket conversion kits that pops up now & again. They look daft & I like the way mine fold neatly into the floor.

Re: Citroen C5 Estate Boot Floor
I have heard rumour of an "Option 7 places" (7 seater option in English) that was offered on the 1998 Xantia estate, but dropped soon after.
I shall query my resident Citroen expert when he gets online.

just because its not been done dosent mean its not Do-able,
irember having a Mondeo estate when they where modern, everyone said theyd never be made into a 7 seater,
imade mine into a 7 seater,

You wouid have to have a nosey over a c5 to work it out,
is there none in the breakers yards near by perhaps ?

Re: Citroen C5 Estate Boot Floor
No breakers nearby really & can't go to places like that with the little man. Got my eye on one on Ebay that's about an hour away. Listing states not to ask to view, but it already ended once at less than a grand. Going by that, I'm not sure if it's worth a bid or not. It's a bit battle-scarred, but if it's cheap enough, I can afford to get any paintwork done.

As an aside, I've seen old-school breakers are usually fenced off now, you go in and theres a desk. Tell them what you need and they have a look at what they've stripped / send work experience boy out to get it.
