Nasa refines satellite crash time

The US space agency (Nasa) says that its out-of-control climate satellite is expected to crash to Earth sometime on Friday evening (GMT).

It'll probably be another non-event, with the satellite coming down somewhere uninhabited again. Or like that meteor that screamed across Croatia and exploded a few years back and I completely missed because I just thought the natives were doing something daft again However:

The debris will include three batteries, four wheel rims and four fuel tanks, and their speed when they hit the ground or the ocean will vary.

The rims, for example, could reach speeds of 107 metres per second (240mph), which is faster than one of France's high-speed TGV trains and 10 times quicker than Usain Bolt.

I reckon it could do some major damage, which is a bit worrying.

Apparently its down but nobody knows where how the fook can they launch
space shuttles and bring them to land on runways and track them all the way

NASA's decommissioned Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite fell back to Earth between 11:23 p.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 23 and 1:09 a.m. EDT Sept. 24. The satellite was passing eastward over Canada and Africa as well as vast portions of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans during that period. The precise re-entry time and location are not yet known with certainty.

So I guess nobody contacted their local emergency services and said there's a wheel rim sticking out of their head
