Should we have a sweep

Post by steve_earwig »

for whose car will be flattened by falling space junk?

Nasa refines satellite crash time
The US space agency (Nasa) says that its out-of-control climate satellite is expected to crash to Earth sometime on Friday evening (GMT).
Get those marshmallows ready chaps!

It'll probably be another non-event, with the satellite coming down somewhere uninhabited again. Or like that meteor that screamed across Croatia and exploded a few years back and I completely missed because I just thought the natives were doing something daft again  However:

I reckon it could do some major damage, which is a bit worrying.

Hold on, what was that again?
four wheel rims
What does something designed to float about in space have four wheel rims for exactly?

Btw it's not been on the news here so I have to ask - is UARS pronounced "you arse"?

Forget NASA, get TNT to track it, then it'll never arrive anywhere.

Or Yodel aka Home Delivery Network, it'll end up thrown behind some moon somewhere with the delivery driver signing for it.

That appears to be calculated position, rather than actual. There is a tracking website but it's rather unsurprisingly, erm, crashed.

Oooh, it's just like playing Russian roulette, except you can't see the gun or who's holding it. Or where it's pointing.

Oh FFS - there I was wondering where this satellite's going to come down and the idiots decide it's time to test the air raid siren on the firehouse here

Dammit, and I forgot to take a photo for Facebook before I flushed.

Good grief, there it goes again, it's really loud here and the dogs are going mental.

Apparently its down but nobody knows where  how the fook can they launch
space shuttles and bring them to land on runways and track them all the way :?:
but they couldn't track this , its the size of a double decker bus for fooks sake
Obviously my prayer last night for it to land on 10 downing street fell on deaf ears :(
my bet it's landed in wiggy's back yard and wiped his onions out and he is now constructing
a new bigger boiler ready for the winter , unless anyone knows different
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

No, my onions (shallots actually) are still hanging in a string bag in the boiler room :cheesy: Apparently NASA still don't what happened to yoUARSe:
NASA wrote:Sat, 24 Sep 2011 03:16:50 AM EDT

NASA's decommissioned Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite fell back to Earth between 11:23 p.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 23 and 1:09 a.m. EDT Sept. 24. The satellite was passing eastward over Canada and Africa as well as vast portions of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans during that period. The precise re-entry time and location are not yet known with certainty.
So I guess nobody contacted their local emergency services and said there's a wheel rim sticking out of their head
