No more name changes for me!

Post by DiscoPol »

Hello all i just wanted to introduce the new motor in the fleet.

here she is
25092011894.jpg
25092011893.jpg
she is '95 Discovery from Belgium, lifted, winch, mud tyres, snorkel etc etc etc.

she is an ex Rally car so has been prepared reasonable professionally, although the snorkel is a bit Heath Robinson, and is fitted with a TerraTrip rally computer, it has a 300Tdi lump in with the fueling and boost upped a bit so its a bit fruity when you stick the pedal down, she was bought as a tow vehicle come winter transport for me, I have given the C5 to the wife now for the winter.

I was going to get a towball fitted to the C5 to collect and then transport my/or soon to be my little off roader courtesy of our very own Dai, but the cost they wanted at the dealers to fit one to the C5 was frightening as was the thought of breaking the bloody thing again towing across europe and all the extra bits i would need to replace on a regular basis if i started to use the C5 as a tow car. This little beauty cost about 35% more than just the purchase and the fitment of a Citroen approved tow pack at the stealers and comes with the added benefit that I actually enjoy driving the thing too :cheesy:

Happy?? as a pig in the mucky stuff

Sadly Stu that is its old Belgium plate, just registered it here today and got something far less entertaining, but as that bumper is 4mm solid steel and the winch fairlead roller is solid steel too I just might keep the plates somewhere on the car as a warning

That's just bonkers! How much did it cost to import and register?

Anything 4x4 here costs a fortune, even if it's just a shed :(

theres a proper looking off roader, sump guard, chunky tyres, raised suspension, lights its got it all, and looks great. What happened the luxurious disco you had before?
But this little off roader you speak of, its a suzuki isnt it?

A snorkel is all very well, but I see no ballast tanks, rudder, planes, periscope or sonar.

How, prey tell, do you propose to navigate this vessel?

Base vehicle cost 9700
HGV test 200
basic repairs 450
registration 275
recycling charge???? 500
total cost to date 11125 PLN @5.2 to the pound about £2139 all in

Citroen wanted close to 6500 PLN for the tow"pack" about 1250 quid ish, I was a bit shocked today when i had to pay the 500 recycling charge as the importer told me it had already been paid, but you live and learn.

I was dead lucky finding it as it already has a lot of the bits i would want to add myself, the winch is coming off and going on the zooki when i get it back here, I had to travel a fair bit to get it too but it was worth it i reckon and it is rough on the paint and exterior, you can tell its been used properly off road but i think mechanically its fairly sound.Well i hope so anyway

edited: just realized the pound is a lot stronger than it was last time i looked
