need some advise please

Post by no2lurch »

after cutting my hour at work to look after our children, I need to make a few cut backs. my 2.2 sri d9 estate is one of them!

we rarely need an estate now and it makes sense to get rid of it for a cheaper, smaller car.

only problem tho is my car needs a new bonnet - after some numbskull bumped it in a car park, its slightly bent and out of line with the wings. The car has passed an mot like it and its not too bad (no creases or broken pain) but i am caught in two minds about what to do.

should i replace the bonnet and sell for the best price, or sel it as it is at a reduced price taking the cost of a new bonnet off?

any advice much appreciated!

It would probably sell better with a straight bonnet, as it is you'd probably lose more than the cost of replacing it. Why don't you have a go at getting another one the same colour? You never know your luck...

i'm at the stage now where i want to sell it NOW.

it is jumping out of reverse - not all the time, but its getting me down about the car. i have re repaired the bottom mount with bolts instead of rubber and its the same.

i dont have the money to repair it! and its not the car i loved when i bought it.

it needs 2 front tyres - i will put two good part worns on it before selling. tax is up end of jan and mopt is due mid july next year.

is asking for 750 too much? quick sale needed.

Price seems very fair, but it will be difficult to shift. Everyone has a bee in their bonnet about diesel, everything has to be diesel. Petrol is perceived as expensive to run, although very rarely does anyone bother to work out what a car is actually costing them. A car at the price you are offering will suffer very little depreciation, so it will have a very low total cost of ownership over the remainder of it's life, even if it returns not great MPG.

No mate.
ithink your not doing harm asking £750 for it,

Bolts?
get them out if your selling/swaping it~ and leave the mount as it is iwouidnt use bolts to bodge such apart
if one falls out or flys out it couid cause other problems that may cause next owner to be moaning after sale ,

If your after a smaller car,get and add up on Swapz.co.uk sit back and see what offers come up.

If Omega can't help with the bonnet I saw one at the breakers earlier today, you're not too far from Telford so I'll get you the guys number if you want it. Let me know

Jumping out of reverse can be attributed to the shitty engine mounts!

That said, get a new bonnet for it - you'll get silly low ball offers for a car with body damage!
