The original 1998 Taxi movie

Post by leestudd30 »

Was the white 406 in it actually modified, or was it all just just special effects?

It was a properly modified motor, no CGi.

What about the engine though? I know its quick in the movie but it didn't look like speeded up footage to me.

Standard ES9J4, with an ES9J4S in the sequel D9. The sounds were dubbed in from BTCC races or something, although there's a few inside-the-car scenes where you can hear the original engines
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

sometimes engine sounds are a bit optimistic, did you hear the citroen xm in ronin, no way thats how the engine sounds in them.

i might be wrong about the engine sound not too used to how the xm v6 sounded.

but there is the unusual ability of this xm to become facelifted during the chase look at the citroen chevrons move from the offset position to the centre.

And that audi s8 repairs itself a few times.

Engine sound ?

didnt take much notice tbh, think ihad the film on 5mins then switched it off,
think it was in French or summink, hard to watch a film where your trying to lip read,

or is there a english version,

ibet there is, serves me right for buying 99p duplicates

The English version stars Queen Latifah with an American Ford Crown Victoria & is more a comedy.

The yank version is bloody awful! I love the original and the subtitles never bothered me, I even bought the soundtrack cd, nothing like a bit of french hip hop lol

My copies are dubbed into Russian (not a problem for me :D) but still haven't watched Taxi 4 with the 407 in it.
