Fault code readers for other cars
I still want to get a fault code reader to sort out the problem with the clio, but i have a cousin who has an A6 with a airbag light, and a cousin with a renault master that isn't running smooth.
What is the best sort to get for reading a variety of cars, one that plugs into the computer or a standalone system.
these are a few i seen:

I use this one, it won't do airbags or ABS reading/resets, but does everything else I need it to........

Re: Fault code readers for other cars
the airbag is causing the trouble on the clio though and the 406 did have some airbag issues when i got it, although the pp2000 is great round the pug.
i had a look on ebay and seen some wireless obi readers that work with an app on the iPhone:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wifi-OBD2-OBD ... 007wt_1377
This i seen on the app store, reads faults as well as speed, rpm, boost etc

Re: Fault code readers for other cars
these wireless ones seem to all have the plug, a foot of wiring and a box of electrical gubbins. which because of where the obd is on the 406 wouldnt sit neaty can the plug be pushed back into its hole and let the stuff sit in the space behind there.
or and this would take a bit of time and careful soldering, would it be possible to cut an obd plug out of a scrap car and wire a second one into the 406 having it sitting hideen behind the panel. would that work and if the two plugs had somthing plugged in at the same time say the wireless one in use and then the pp2000 what would happen?

Re: Fault code readers for other cars
I don't want that to happen, quite likely if i did the soldering myself. although it seems there is a demand for a second even third obd port:

one thing is my 406 obdII compliant?

Re: Fault code readers for other cars
service box says without EOBD, is that different to OBDII?
Re: Fault code readers for other cars
Renault use a system called "clip" and it's proprietary. I doubt you'd have much luck with a generic code reader. For my Clio I bought one of these:

Re: Fault code readers for other cars
i bought a wifi reader there last night they seem to work quite quickly on the iphone and should work on all obd cars i know my dads nissan definatley compliant, and my mums clio is 02 which is in the date for obd compliance, but the 406 obd compliance was required on diesels after 2004 did all the multiplex stuff make the 406 compliant?

Re: Fault code readers for other cars
would that mean nothing works at all with it?
Re: Fault code readers for other cars
I would be very surprised if your code reader worked on either the Clio or the 406. Both are using proprietary protocols. I have a bluetooth ELM 327 clone and an app called Torque for my android handset. It doesn't work with either D8 or D9 406's, and it doesn't work with my Clio. It did however work very well with a Kangoo DCi, and since Nissan use Renault mechanicals now there's a good chance it will work with your dad's if it's a DCi.

Re: Fault code readers for other cars
My code reader reads Renault codes, along with the Nissan/Renault ones....except ABS and Airbags.

Re: Fault code readers for other cars
It arrived today, i plugged it into the pug, it didnt seem to want to fit, but i shone a torch on it and it slotted in ok, the sender lit up and the phone latched onto the wifi signal ok, the app though just didn't seem to work with the peugeots unique electricals:

I then took it out of the pug and put it into my dads nissan, it works on it ok, connected fairly quickly and read the details like the revs, temp and speed as well as other technical stuff:

is there a device that can translate the peugeots weird language into obd?
