Good Window Demister

Post by FarmerPug »

I ordered one of these the other week to try and speed up the time taken to demist the windows:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170707924682? ... 124wt_1377

I've tried other stuff in the past like coffee and silica gel packets dotted around the car, but this after sitting in the car for an hour, has actually demisted and kept the windows clear even when its icy outside.

Really?
That seems pretty good.
I've noticed more condensation, maybe because of my leak, but also because I'm doing shorter journeys.
I think I'll try one.

Some people seem to have a phobia about switching the air con on  You should have the air con running once a week. It circulates the lubricant around all of the parts and stops the seals from drying out. It also dehumidifies the interior preventing bacteria growing and generally de-odourises.....and of course it very effectively demists your windows

You can buy a thing from the Hardware shops
forgot what its called but it soaks up any dampness,
it just looks like an Airfreshner, it last 6 mths and once its come to its end u just open it up and add another cartridge thing and it lasts another 6mts, seen them at £3.99

as of them on the Ebay linky, yeah it couid quite well be cat litter,
strange what people will make to make a few Quid,

Btw anyone want to buy any top notch screen wash, ive been making my own, costs less than 20p a gallon,

the bag is a lot thicker in real life than the pictures its like a bean bag with what feels like broken pencil leads still inside (the book says activated carbon), the book says after a few months this goes on a radiator for a few hours to dry it out and it should continue to work.
as for the air con its still kept on now and then to keep it running smooth, the climate control does a good job of deciding to put the air con on at any possible moment

So seriously, is it any good then?

Presumably the absorption rate is proportional to the surface area exposed to the air, so the bigger ones are probably worse since most of the contents are on the inside.

well I've had it a while now, the windows are getting misted up a bit, i think it needs time on the radiator, a bit sooner than the 3 months they said.

if you weigh it before you dry it and after you dry then the difference must be the water it had absorbed.
