Fuel Consumption

Post by leestudd30 »

The other day I drove from Cheltenham to Merry Hill (missing the turning off the M5 lol), then Brum afterwards through heavy traffic and then back to Cheltenham. I put in £30 of fuel and did about 150 miles, does that sound like decent fuel consumption for my 2 litre petrol 406?

This is a very sketchy way of working out MPG. The only way to do it is to brim the tank (might want to re mortgage first) THEN do a good mix of driving THEN brim again so you know exactly how much fuel was used over the miles covered.

However, if you put in £30.00 @ £6.00/gallon would give you 5 gallons divide into 150 miles = 30mpg. That is a rough guide but you can see that if you'd have used 6 gallons it would be 25mpg and 4 gallons = 37.5mpg you need to know exactly as the results are all over the place.
