Does anyone have a flat bed trailer in Gloucestershire?

Post by Mrs406 »

Hi everyone!

Hope you don't mind me posting this here, I am wondering if there is a kind soul with a flat bed, car transporter trailer here willing to lend it me for a day, in Gloucestershire!
My car currently is in Southampton and untaxed.
My plan was to get insurance Tuesday and get buses / trains down there to bring her back but the cost of the bus and train tickets - well put it this way, I'm glad I was sitting!

I have looked up hiring one locally, the nearest place to us needs a deposit of £200 (with fuel costs on top of that, it's not something I can afford at the moment) and a hiring place on route wants £500 as a deposit!

Ideally, we'd need it straight after morning drop off at school and returning it by 3pm
Can collect from local areas, Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham, swindon, Chippenham, Malmesbury _ I really hope someone can help x

Did you buy the car off a dealer/trader

if you bought it off a dealer, some of them will tax the car for you -and then you can just Temp cover the car for the day to bring it home,

Well, if it's any help to anyone, I'm in Andover which is a stones throw from Southampton. Will be happy to take part in a "relay" if needed.

Failing that, I looked into buying a car to break a w hile ago & it was going to cost £90 to get it transported from Suffolk. Could be worth looking into a couple of car transporting/recovery options. Previously I would have suggested Shiply.com, but I got burned by them...

What about driving down to pick it up with a mate and a tow rope/bar? Just be aware the 406 towing eyes have under 50% chance of fitting in the bloody holes...
