I'm beginning to think that mileage is not so much of an issue as i first thought as long as it's not starship taxi mileage,it's all down to service records and bills,i know where there is a 53 plate S estate with a genuine 39k on the clock it's not for sale but when i got talking to the guy who owns it i reckon it's got more issues than a car with 4 times the mileage as cos it's not used it never gets maintained peoperly or even up to a good running temp when it is taken for a spin.I think the main concerns must be regular oil changes, cambelt changes when due and the clutch.

yep lower milage motors seem to need more spending on them . ie timing belt ? clutch etc etc... all the major stuff with it being low miles and never having any changed before..... that was mentioned to me a few months ago when i was thinking of changing a car...

milage doesnt worry me much , will go upto 150k on one providing the history is all in order ...

but will be going for 110 estate i think for sure...

whats yours like waue ? drive ok the estates
Mine drives fine. Handles great, but noticably better with the 215/55 x 16 tyres compared to the standard 195/65 x 15s.

If you're used to the XUD being a bit sluggish, you'll probably be pleased enough with the performance of the 90 or the 110, but personally I don't find the 110 to be all that rapid. It'll happily plod along at motorway speeds & you can get out of junctions easy enough, but I think I got spoiled by my previous motors. The Mondeo TDDi (115bhp) definitely felt significantly quicker than the Pug & even a standard 2.2 HDi won't leave you wanting.

Best thing to do is drive a few. But take heed - if you drive a 110 & find yourself more than happy with the performance, don't drive a 2.2 afterwards. It'll just leave you disappointed with the 110 after that...

Mmm, maybe my view of the 110 is tainted by the upsetting experiences I had with mine :(

It would still be multiplexed and have the com2000, but saying NO SERVICE HISTORY may worry some, although the cam belt and clutch have been done.

He's marked it off as sold now. Is that because you've done the deal?

If you still haven't checked it yet, listen for any slight metallic noises when it's running - that was the start of the bottom pulley going on my old Xantia. People say the 90 is underpowered, but my old Xantia never felt gutless, so if it really feels sluggish, something is wrong. Check the rear windows work off of the rear window switches & check the isolator switch on the driver's door - it shouldn't feel too stiff.

After being used to your leather seats, you may find yourself falling into the centre console where you don't have an armrest any more.

Nothing you don't already know, but I'll list it anyhow.
The MFD misses a rear lamp. Find out if he knows it's cheap, if he doesn't, ask for a 20£ discount!
Check carefully for ticking noise from the injectors (remove noiseproofing for this).
Check all pulleys. Check all plastic pipes are fine.
Check normal electrics work.
Check air conditioning, ABS, check rain and headlights sensors.
Check all brake discs for deformations, to do this bring a measuring tool with you (I don't know how you call it, It's "Palmer" here).
Check the speed of the electric windows. Check clutch slipping and check wipers arms for even pressure along the glass.
Check the underside of the car as much as you can, check for hissing noises from the turbo pipes, check if the lift pump sounds uniform.
Check that the car doesn't go left or right when braking. Check regular maintenance has been done.
Check the level of all fluids.
Rust etc.

Also although it probably means nothing but i have found in the past that cars that have been fitted with mudflaps have been owned at some point by someone who looked after them
