Re: car tax
Neither.
All you need is an MOT and insurance.
The insurance has to be valid for at least one month into the future.

a check of my V5 says you can use the green new keeper bit (V5C/2) to tax it up to 2 months after acquiring it.

if i remeber right if it as already been used to tax a car they stamp it with the date to make sure you apply for one before the tax is due again but if it hasnt been stamped you just need the green slip

Thanks all,
iwill just take traders policy and the bits ive got of the log book and see what they say at postoffice,
never botherd before as ive always taxed car online,
was just thinking of taxing it and sticking car at side of a busy road somewhere with forsale sighn in window,
bought this car originaly for amate who had no car
he was getting it for free but was expecting something mint for free,
so ive told him the feck off & get his own car,
iwont be helping no one out in future people are just getting ungreatfull these days

Re: car tax
Mileage is high,
but its ex plod so no doubt its well maintained,
ive known the car for over 4 years and all ican say its done around 50miles in 4 years,
the person who originaly bought it amate of mine wouidnt drive it because of something that happend whilst he was driving it one day, nowt wrong with the car its just something what someone did that put him off driving it

Re: car tax
Don't you need the car to be registered on the Motor Insurance Database?
With my motor trade policy there is a legal requirement for all vehicles in my posssession or for sale to be registered on the MID.

iknow a few traders and they just go in and tax any car,
the last car ibought off a trader they taxed it for me icame out with logbook as they know me,
so ipresume car dosent have to be recorded on Mid to have it taxed,
im unsure on this ,iwill find out more tomorow when ipop in post office,
just paid 2k for this policy so im hoping its worth the paper its written on
