A friend of mine has a leak from the gearbox seals on her petrol Zafira.
She doesn't live near me so I haven't looked at the car but she's been told by her local garage it will probably mean the gearbox is shagged, that the engine will have to come out to change it and that it will be a minimum of £500!
Does any of that sound right?
Remove an engine to get at a gearbox?
She said she's used the same guy for years and trusts him but it just doesn't sound right to me, any thoughts?

Driveshaft seals are pennies and cost about £100 for both to be replaced.

No mate,
gearbox dosent have to come out,
thats if its the outer diff seals have gone,
just take drive shaft out of box take /prise out old seal press in a new one, very easy
you dont even have to remove shaft from hub end
