Can't imagine it's related, but fuel prices have dropped again - Asda in Kettering were 132.7 unleaded & 135.7 diesel this morning, but I got wind of a new jet garage opening just down the road, doing a 5p/litre off promo, so availed myself of 68.3 litres at 133.8 this evening and got change from £100 for once. :o
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I only keep an eye on 406s and 407 (only diesel and not the 1.6), and they seem as worthless as ever. XUD 406s seem increasingly uncommon, and 407s are coming under 1500. In fact I've seen XUD 406s advertised for more than 407 2.0 HDi !

What examples are you looking at lozz?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I was reading in my dad's driving instructor magazine yesterday that the sale of new diesel cars has overtaken petrol cars for the 1st time. it also went on to say that unless you are doing more than 10k miles a year it is basically cheaper to run a petrol car. alot of diesel cars nowadays are just little town runabouts that people buy, as they are under the false impression that it will be cheaper to run.
As for the price of diesel cars i suppose it all comes down to supply and demand. Lots of people want one as they think it will be cheaper motoring /tax, but one clogged particulate filter will soon wipe out any potential savings, plus these modern diesels tend to be more expensive to fix when they do go wrong

Yes, people are getting hysterical about MPG. A good example recently, we were trying to sell my dad's 1.8 petrol D9 406. Low miles, great condition.....we could hardly give it away, got £600 after months of advertising. Conversly this has pushed up prices of second hand diesels.

The irony is, the 1.8 16v petrol returns smiliar MPG to the XUD, it's cheaper to maintain and service, a damn site quicker, handles better and is nicer to drive. However people see "petrol" make an assumption without working anything out, they'd pick a diesel every time. If mine didn't run on veg I certainly would be driving something else.

Some good petrol buys out there for a person who uses their noggin.

I might have a Mitsubishi Carisma DiD coming up for sale, 52 reg, full leather and all the toys, just put new front discs and a CV joint on it, timing belt needs doing soon, but will probably do it for a serious buyer.

113,000 miles, I've looked after it for several years.

Owner is supposed to be buying a Focus soon and selling me the Carisma.

I'll see how it goes and let you know.

would agree with all of that. i must admit while window shopping on auto trader looking at diesels, gave up and decided to just run this one into the ground . with only 80k miles on the clock i might be a while till i get something else :D and it will be petrol
