hi gary, long time no type :cheesy:

ive got a lot of experience on these engine's, they are quite good apart from one thing then have a tendency to rap the fan belt round the crank pulley and snap the cam belt,

now not a lot of people know about this but its more often than not caused by the alternator pully has a one way clutch type thing and they seize up and shred the belt, its a right ball ache to change the pulley but i recommend you spend the extra to have it changed when you have the cam belt done.

iirc the recommend belt change is 70k but id be doing it at 60 to be safe,
the chap i used to work for is a Renault specialist and i had to learn all sorts of crap about these thing that's why i stuck with my 406

feel free to pm me if you need any help with it
best of luck with the new car

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Theres nothing wrong with Renault engines aslong as you look after them.
as of the cars them selves there plagued with electrical problems, (scuttle drains common cause)

Preventitive Maintance is called for with renaults (ithink)

@jamjar, 50k is the book time for the belt interval going off Auto data,

well there you are gary 50k, but i'd be checking that alternator pully often, ive only managed to save one from snaping its belt (caught it just in time) but still had to have a new pully and a fan belt
