Arghhhhh

Post by Bailes1992 »

First day of my holiday not going great.
Just had a phonecall off ford saying they forgot to price up bolts and gaskets and the belts for my car come to £670 not £480.
Phoned trading standards who told me in wales unless a deposit has been paid then there is no contract.
No garage will touch my belt jacuzzi.

And throttling it out of Bridgend Ford in temper upto about 47mph in a 40mph zone I saw a camera van

Ask them to discount it down, they did give you a figure (albeit verbally?) but even so you accepted the price on this basis and went with them.

There's an element of 'good will' required here.

Also you don't know if the camera got you so best assume it didn't (if your speedo said 47 you'd have been doing 44 anyway in real money).

I'm not bothered if the camera got me in all fairness. Will be £80 down but will go on a speed awareness course if I did get caught.

They refused outright to honor my first WRITTEN quote of £480.17.

The laws in Wales say any quote isn;t a contract until a deposit has been paid. So I'm stuck really.

No that was CarShop. People I bought the car off.
They insisted I had to take my car to Halfords Autocentre 4 times before I revved up and made them sense it to PW Miller in Barry to be fixed.
This is where PW Miller replaced £1000's worth of instrument cluster to repair a fault with the temperature gauge. The coolant temperature sensor had failed

The garage I want to do the belts is Bridgend Ford.

Have you really got different laws on this is in Wales?

As welly says, I would argue that they offered to perform the job for a specific price, you agreed, therefore a contract exists.
You may not be able to enforce it, but you have got a good case for splitting the difference with you.
At the very least they should supply the 'extras' at cost.
See if you can wangle something else you genuinely need out of them cheaper as a 'sweetner'.
You've nothing to lose trying.

Was the first Quote before Vat was Added?
inoticed when iused to have the ford galaxy serviced at the mainagents they gave me the price,
and then upon paying they hit me with the v.a.t ihad the money in my hand to pay what they quoted me which iwas anoyed at but had to pay before theyd hand over the key,

Look for a Ford specialist Rather than a Main Agent to do the work,

Ahh well what a bunch of ******s.

Took it in at 11am and told them it MUST me completed tonight as I have to leave for work at 5am tomorrow. (I don't but I still have to be in college by 9am)
It has a job time of 2.2hours.

Just went down there and it still isn't finished.

They offered me a courtesy car with a £5000 excess, no thanks!

Had a screaming match with the woman on the desk.

Going to pick it up tomorrow, and I'll be expecting either with a sizable discount or two new Goodyear Efficientgrips on the back.

They've offered 10% discount which brings it down to £600. And they're going to fill the car up for me which is grand! The fuel lights on and it will be over £100 to fill up 8)
