2 1/2 hours and counting, that's a bit crap
Fetching her sounds like the best plan.

just getting into car and shes phoned saying they have turned up
Re: aa not the rescue service
AA is a waste of space,
they sent another company out to recover a car for me once, and then left the passengers by the roadside,
igot a cheque for 50quid compensation, it cost more than that to get a taxi,

Re: aa not the rescue service
I'm with the AA and they've been okay.
Not long after I passed my text I had an inner CV joint fail on Bernard (some of you may remember it). I was just past the half way mark on my way up to Yorkshire, not far from Nottingham on the A42.
They sent a third party recovery truck out to move me 1/2 a mile into the services, then made me wait 3 hours before another AA truck turned up.

Re: aa not the rescue service
You can complain, I would.
Last Thursday I tried breaking down so as to avoid driving my car with the crankcase breathing issue I had.......it was 06:35am so I pulled into a Sainsbury car park and made the call to the AA.......................20 minutes later I was still on hold
as in I hadn't actually got to speak to a human being at this point
In the end I had to hang up as the traffic was building up and my driving style was too slow to get mixed up in it.
In the AA's defense it might have been because it was -5deg C and they would have been inundated with flat batteries etc but even so.....

Re: aa not the rescue service
They're all the same these days, I left the AA because they were shyte and joined the RAC, who were very good and very fast when the 406 broke down back in the summer, but speaking to others I get the impression that I was lucky there!
I can't remember which service it was but the wife's car broke down one December, she was on her own, 8 and a half months pregnant, car not running so no heaters etc. She rang the breakdown service and they said they'd be at least 2 hours. She called me (rather unhappy), I called them for a rant and they said there's nothing they could do about it and wasn't there anywhere she could go for a cup of coffee and a warm?? I told them to shove it and left work to get her myself.

Re: aa not the rescue service
I called the RAC to deal with a leaky top hose on my last Omega, 3pm on an August Saturday on the A34 near Oxford......
Even with 'priority service', (my wife's disabled), I was told a minimum of 4 hours, so I improvised, limped it home and told them to stuff it first thing Monday.
Been with the AA ever since, (a so-called freebie), but have never used them.

I'm guessing that's through your bank account? you'll probably have mobile phone insurance too with £100 excessDoggy wrote:Been with the AA ever since, (a so-called freebie), but have never used them.

They charged £8.95 per month for the privilage too.

I'm insured with Admiral now with full breakdown I've called them out twice and they were pretty quick but they do only cover you once for the same problem.
