Gearbox oil filler

Post by FarmerPug »

I managed to get somewhere today to compress the spring, and change it thankfully.
But i need to put back the gearbox oil that came out, i got a litre of new oil.

The question is where does one fill the oil from? I followed the haynes manual, removed the wheelarch liner and cant see any filler bolt.
Any help would be appreciated.

My HDi90 there was a bolt on the side of the gearbox and one on the top. You filled the gearbox up from the top until it dripped out of the side.

Thanks trem1 that picture did the job

Under the air filter box there was the filler, a plastic cap over it and i measured what came out and put it back in with a funnel. It will do for some other day to actually change the oil properly i need the car back on the road.

The strut was also the wrong way round and on full lock it clicked but looking through pictures i took i realised it was the wrong way round, after disconnecting the droplink and undoing the clamp i got a big stilson and turned the strut the right way round. Problem solved no more click noise.

Thanks for your help its good to have the car going, the idea of going to belfast in the clio to my aunts on boxing day is scary.

I noticed the cars performance to be rather lacadasical after the repair, putting the foot down just about gets a bit of turbo but not enough to move anywhere. It seems the spring that puts tension on the accelerator cable has come off, i must have knocked it out of the way when taking out the air filter.
