Toyota Carpet

Post by FarmerPug »

Im having a bit of trouble finding parts for my aunts 2005 yaris, the windscreen cracked and the floor got waterlogged, she left if for a few months and it got mouldy, so i ripped out the carpet and foam underlay, and dried the interior.
The thing is i ripped all out in early december, put the seats back in and told her that it would let the car dry out, i then revised for exams, now im done ive got this car to put carpets into, ive rang around all the breakers here, some just dont have yari and any that do have some are either 3dr models or have been sitting in a scrapyard for too long with no door or windows and thus are growing a garden on the floor.

Ebay seems to be the same, either stupid prices, or a garden on the floor.
Does anyone know of a good toyota breaker that would have a 5dr yaris with a fairly clean carpet.

If i cant get carpet the black bit of the carpet should still do, would there be any home made alternative to using the white foam under the carpet again, my grampa thinks sticking it in a bath of bleached water will work but they still stink of mould.

I dunno what it's like in an 'arris but the carpet in the RAV is the cheapest, nastiestcarpet you can imagine, not even fit for an out house, I suppose it needs to be something rugged for all those hairdressers getting in with mud on their high heels  Anyway, someone has trodden bubblegum into the back carpet so I thought I'd replace it, seeing as how it was so cheap-looking (this is in the days before I stopped giving a toss about it) I reckoned it wouldn't be to expensive. It's all 1 bit and (wait for it) almost 900€ - what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck?

Wd40?

it loosens off chewing gum, but leaves that oily smell , not good aspose,

Have you got a wallpaper stripper?
if so take the pipe off the steam pad and blast the steam on the chewing gum, best to wear gloves mind to avoid scalding to hands.

The yaris carpet is one big section, having said that they do fold up
We put the carpet part on the wood boiler its been there a month and feels fairly dry, i think a good dose of jevs fluid and it will smell ok.
Its the foam bits under the carpet which definatley need to be replaced they are stinking.
This is the video i made of taking the interior out, you can see how wet the foam bits were

Thanks for that Toyota parts catalogue, its like servicebox, the price for the yaris carpet was £400 (when i rang the dealer), how such a shitty carpet costs so much to make i have no idea, you could buy a wool carpet for that much, or for £400 there would be enough money to put down a nice tile floor with underfloor heating.

That would be great lozz, if you know of a car with a dry foam underlay then ill pay you for whatever expense there is.

Ahy jeys fluid, the stuff they used to clean hospitals with, before MRSA was a huge issue, i cant mind if its black or a brown colour but its quare stuff, i mind cleaning out the hen house, it got rid of the strong ammonia smell the hens had left in their faeces, this stuff in the pressure washer tank and the smell was gone.

On the subject of toyotas i might have a chance of buying a carina E
My younger cousin got one for racing around the fields, he saved his money up, drove it once and then wanted an ipod touch instead, so his dad my uncle is selling it for £200 and i just so happened to sell the suzuki today for the same amount, there is no shortage of carinas round the place for spares, there is one that was reversed into by a tractor and has been dozed into a pile of scrap and left sit there for the past 4 years at the farm, and another one sitting in another uncles yard which was for parts for a carina he once owned.

I think this one i can buy has a problem going into 3rd, its a turbo diesel, the other two are just diesels would a non turbo gearbox fit the turbo diesel engine, can these old engines run on bio diesel?

Other than that the car wouldnt take much to MOT and sell on, these things still fetch £500 on gumtree.
