what fuel does everyone use..
as titled, just wondering if people see different mpg from different brands of fuel, the reason i ask is because when i had my octavia & filled up with morrissons diesel i got nearly 10 mpg less than if i use shell, i avoid morrissons as much as possible, i read on the pump while i was filling up that it contains up to 7% bio diesel, was interested to see what other hdi drivers use and why. i try to use either shell or esso & sometimes texaco, i dont often use bp as my local garage is normally dearer, cheers, lee

i used to put a bit of 2 stroke in my octavia but dont think its any good for the d9 hdi, it seemed th make the octavia quieter. the only thing ive put into my tank is the forte fuel treatment stuff, little while after my in tank pump packed up, dont think it caused it tho, midsmike wrote:i try to use shell or bp with a bit of 2stroke
Re: what fuel does everyone use..
During the summer I did the same commute every day for 6 weeks, which was about a 90 mile round trip from Surrey to Shoreham-by-Sea.
I did one full tank on normal Shell FuelSave Diesel (until the fuel light came on) and then another tank on Shell V-power Diesel.
Brim to brim measurements showed 2-3mpg better on V-power.

Re: what fuel does everyone use..
It's been running almost exclusively on Shell for the last two years.
It used to run on Total, but I don't commute past that station any more. Not much of a difference.
It hates Morissons diesel. Very noisy.
Had a tank of Texaco that it seemed to really like, so I might try that again soon.

I use, always,OMV Eurosuper 100,dont know if that is known in UK,but i must say petrol is really clean, not like any others here.
Re: what fuel does everyone use..
Some supermarket fuel is poor.
I put morrisons in the van seemed gutless - put same fuel in the 406 and it wasnt right after that!
Sainsbury's fuel I find pretty good, diesel never had an issue with same with petrol in the race quad.
Tesco's is hit and miss. Van is ok on the diesel, old pug hated it but the new one doesnt seem too bad.
Shell is always good.....
Think sainsbury's fuel is provided by BP or Shell and isnt touched so to speak... Unlike morrisons or tesco......

Re: what fuel does everyone use..
My car is fussy as hell when it comes to fuel!
I run it mainly on a diet of BP Ultimate Diesel.
If I can't find a BP then the next best would be Shell V-Power.
The car runs very smooth on either fuel but the 7% bio in shell puts me off.
The car will run fine on Tesco diesel but drinks like a bloody fish!
Shell Fuel save, Morrisons, Sainsburys and Asda all put the EML light on and make it run like a bag of spanners. Even with a dose of millers eco max!
All have 7% bio and I'm convinced that's the reason why! Although I do find it odd that the Shell V-Power diesel does not effect it even with it's 7% bio?
If I can't find a Shell or BP then I fill up at Tesco, Texaco or Total and give it a double dose of millers!

Re: what fuel does everyone use..
The nearest for me is co-op, Total I think, which is sh!te, I haven't been there for years because if it, after that it's harvest or something like that, the one I always go to, I stay away from supermarket diesel, I'd rather push on for a bit longer with the light on and pay a few pence/l more.

What sort of differences do you get?Bailes1992 wrote:The car will run fine on Tesco diesel but drinks like a bloody fish!![]()
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

On untreated tesco diesel (Without millers eco max) I get about 37mpg.V6Exec wrote:What sort of differences do you get?Bailes1992 wrote:The car will run fine on Tesco diesel but drinks like a bloody fish!![]()
On treated tesco, BP Ultimate, shell Vpower or any other treated diesel I got 43-46mpg.
My weekly driving usually consists of 250-350miles. 60% Motorway, 20% town and 20% back roads. I don't have a light foot either.
Still a far cry away from the 57mpg I was getting out of my tuned HDi90

2004 YFZ 450.....

^ This is my baby ^
Sheer grin factor when you launch off the start line looking at the sky!
She's just had the front end rebuilt, just now need to get a new frame and give her a freshen up!
The first race of the weekend she spat me off on some whoops and over the handlebars then proceeded to run into my head..... Few stern words and a broken ball joint later which got repaired and I was back with a stiff back for more punishment!
