They all use a standard RGB or DVI connector so no issues!

Personally I would look at Linux. I use Ubuntu. It's free! It will work on your current system BUT drivers for stuff like printers etc may be hard to come by.

I was just thinking if you want an o/s that none of your software will work on try Linux :cheesy:

I had Mint going on mine before it packed up :( - http://www.linuxmint.com/ it's based on Ubuntu but I never had to doing anything much to get it all working (even Shackwove Flush worked straight out of the box, which was a royal PITA to get going on the other distro I tried). I've got the 64 bit poised to go on my next machine (if I can ever find anyone that's got any of the bits I want...)

The thing that knarks me with this thing
is eveytime you switch it on something needs updating
and then itwill crash, for whats in it its slow, wipe the o/s off and put a clean install on and its fine for a week or so
and then it goes back to a slow peice of junk,

this is supposed to be running on 64 bit but iaint paying 150 quid or what ever for a disc feck that, :(

I did notice that even on a clean install Windows seems to stick everything all over the place and immediately needs a dafrag.

The power mac (ie mac towers) will work with any monitors, even my uncles iMac has an old dell monitor sitting to the side to give it extra screen space. Its just getting the right cable.

As for loading the OS its simplicity itself, just pop in the cd and it does the rest, it should come with the cd to reinstall the operating system.

Its a great operating system, no farting about with drivers, updates or antivirus software, and its quick. The only reason i keep a windows computer is to run pp2000.

Is the ram chips pushed all the way in? What was it originally, what is it supposed to be?

The Power Mac G5 should have mac osx still on it, you normally still get an operating system on a used computer

Yeah the memmory is in properly,
tested the sticks on another base awhile back and it was fine,

Its a homebuilt pc,not factory,

the Mac as got a o/s on it but the disc aint included idont think,
not sure what its running either ijust seen it in a shop the other day, and thought it was cheap, @ 80 quid
they seem to be going for 350 ish on eghay so it dont look to bad of a deal,

shame they didnt have the monitor for it tho, :( iguess theyve sold that sepratly,.

Could be using on board graphics which means it uses some of your ram.

The slowness shouldnt be happening, how do you re-install a complete fresh batch of windows or is it a dell style disk......

If its a fresh install then what other programs like anti virus do you install?

what are the actual specs of your PC?

I turn auto update on. Seldom to I actually update the OS. Keep my anti virus up and thats all!

but its pretty good on basic game's. not that iuse if for that,

not sure how you get the spec list up on win 7 ive tried but thats all ican find in the above png :?

anti-virus is AVG it came free with the Motherboard disk,
and the o/s is unbranded not dell etc, got that as a freebie :supafrisk:

£80 sounds very cheap for a mac of any sort, the recovery disks are very handy if anything goes wrong or you want a fresh install to get rid of the previous owners files.
A monitor wouldnt cost that much, you could get a lead to connect it to the back of an LCD tv.

Is it an old version of avg?? I took it off my lappy as it caused it to slow right down...

On board graphics are using some of the ram then. Somewhere you could tweak it to use less....
