Run out of diesel!
Computer said 40mls left, fuel gauge said just under 1/8th of a tank, I went up hill, all the fuel went to the back of the tank and I came to a halt

Re: Run out of diesel!
That's a bummer.
I get the same in my lorry but the pick-up pipe is at the back of the tank, so if I have less than a 1/3 of a tank ( yes - 1/3 ) and I am facing downhill it will just stall. I then have to coast it with no power steering or power brakes until I find somewhere flat, jump out and manually prime the pump and then 5mins later it starts. This is a pain in the ass in a country lane somewhere as I block the road....
What a sh*t design.

And there was me thinking the 406's were the funny ones with dodgy readings on the tank

Re: Run out of diesel!
Wow, 78 litres. I think the most I filled is 74+a-bit.
Sam, you plonker
How long was that hill?! Even if the tank was temporarily empty, give the in-tank pump to suck on nothing, surely there's still fuel in the system to keep you going for a few seconds...?

Ford Feature? Had the same happen to me in my Parents Ford Galaxy, only pointing down hill with the engine idling while I waited for a lorry to get out of the way.
Coasted to the bottom and after a bit of cranking it fired up again luckily. next stop was first available petrol station!
