Clutch went a little funny last week, the clutch pedal had little resistance and did nothing right down to the last 1/4 and then it barley disengaged the clutch.
It's done 86,000miles so changing the clutch, slave cylinder, release bearing and master cylinder.
Box is back in, going to bleed off the clutch this morning and make sure all is well then start puttiing the suspension back together. Bought new lower arms and brake hoses too as they are looking a little ropey.

Reminds me of my son's Fiat Grande Punto

I've already done his clutch this summer, but last week I noticed an oil leak after he complained of clutch judder, turns out he had an oil leak from the input shaft oil seal which had got onto the clutch....unfortunately, the input shaft bearing is the culprit on these, the bearing falls to bits and rips the oil seal to pieces.

I stripped the gearbox and fitted a new bearing, seals, clutch and all is well

Call me old fashioned but the reg number seemed to have changed aswell as the clutch

Box has gone this time!
You can't down change at all unless you double clutch and match the revs. 2nd doesn't seem to exist at all any more!

We got a new box but it doesn't have the helical gear to drive the speedo drive. Speedo drive fit in fine but there's no helical gear to drive it all
So we'll have to take that box back!

We have found another IB5 box off a SportKA about 2 miles up the road. They have much closer ratios and have the standard speedo drive so should be a straight swap and make the car a tad more nippy!

i know what you mean about getting to old to rip gearboxes out ,last year i had to replace the clutch in my passat and for some unknown reason failed to read the instructions correctly ,the bit where it tells you the torque setting ,i did the first part but didn't do the angle tighten bit, only realized when i was about to through the old parts away.
so the next day did the job again, felt like i had gone 10 rounds with mike tyson ,had to work outside with a drive that is half gravel ,not good
