price of scrap,

Post by lozz »

Anyone know what price of scrap is nowadays :?:
Ive got 3cars too weigh in,
Just trying to work out what scrap value is,
To see if its worth bothering if so then I will just let the local
Scavengers take them,

Look up a local scrappy in yellow pages ( I'm so old ) and just ask.

Maybe around £130 per ton, so around £160 for a large french estate....

Forgot to add, I was quoted £120 for my donor 406, without doors or most engine and interior parts, so maybe more...

Cheers,

I've finished stripping them out so I will weigh them in on Monday,
Filled them up with old junk too,
Saved me hiring a skip, :supafrisk:

The problem these days is that it's a complete throw-away culture. People get rid of perfectly good cars and it's these ones that the scrappies are after. Yes, they get metal money but they get just as much by selling bits that come with the car.

They can afford to be picky....

So, Sonia, I will come to Oxford and bitch-slap you if you cube your 406 because of a sensor.... :supafrisk:

The local scrappy T-met isnt fussy at all, ive turned up with cars and bits of cars on the back of the tractors dump trailer, tip the stuff in the yard and get paid they havent changed the price yet its still good. The only thing is you need to give them ID and an address, it happened after there was quite a problem here with road signs and man hole covers getting stolen

We carnt take cars into the scrapyard anymore
Aparantly you need a permit/licence ..not sure on why tho.
The scrap lad was telling me about it.

The company's I rang where the ones out of the local paper
I was lost in the language barrier speaking to them on the phone..

It turned out to be a waste of time breaking them,
In future iwill just give the full car to local college /fire station ..

You cant just ebay the cars as spares or repairs, there is always someone to buy something off ebay
