307 1.6HDI DPF

Post by gumby6371 »

The time has come 'again' to remove and jet wash the DPF in the other halves 307, but I have finally convinced her to let me re-map and get rid of the wretched DPF altogether.

Here's the catch, I'm only allowed to re-map and butcher the DPF if I can put it all back if it goes tits up, so can anyone confirm is all PSA 1.6 HDI vehicles were fitted with the same DPF and between what years to match her 54 plate?

Any info would be great so I can cast a wider net when trawling breakers yards.

Cheers

I think this leaves 4 possibilities: left or right water radiator location, and (CAN CAN) or (CAN VAN) multiplex.
As far as I can see the diagrams are all identical

So, it looks like you have to be able to tell the difference between CAN CAN and CAN VAN

My bad. Too used to looking at DW10. It's the first four on the list, not the bold two.

So the good news is there's no dependency on age although the above is for 307 and not for 307 restyling.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Here are the part numbers for '307 restyling'. Just two options here.

Even having the VIN isn't foolproof, as I've discovered once or twice.

I suggest making your best guess, then trying to get one from a scrappy that you can at least exchange if it doesn't fit. (It can be done - I bought a set of gear linkage cables / lever for a 307 recently - 'What if it doesn't fit'? - 'Send it back for a full refund within 7 days', therefore only risked the £5 return carriage).

If it does fit, roger the new one and keep the original in your 'told you so pile' until it's safe to dispose of.

I know. Once I'd started...

Hang on: smash out the scrap one and keep the original one? That means the scrap one only has to be the same shape, and if we believe that they are all the same shape since they're the same diagram, then anything earlier than 2006 will do.

So anything pre 2006 will be the same shape and presumable have the same mountings etc.?

Very useful info, many thanks

Assuming I can find a replacement DPF how many beer tokens for a non DPF map Mr Doggy???

In an ideal world a map with power all through the rev range would be nice and not just when you floor it but hey it's not mine and she hardly does any out of town driving anyway :cheesy:

Sorry, but I don't think I can help you there. :(

Apparently the newer ecu's aren't as easy to 'de-FAP' as the Bosch EDC15 on the 406.

Took it to the coast last week, 90 miles of 60-70 mph driving and got the 'anti pollution fault' message 5 miles before the end of the journey!

Had a bit of a google this morning to get prices for DPF removal and a re-map and found 2 localish firms.
Midland re-maps and Black code, anyone used them? I did find them mentioned on other forums but mostly by people asking if they were any good and no proper reviews.

According to Black codes web site they can do a DPF removal plus a performance/economy/hybrid map for about £260, presumably dependant on make and model.
I'll give them a ring later as they're only 10 minutes from me but I'd quite like an actual customer review and not just the testimonials they show you on the site.
