Posting air bags

Post by FarmerPug »

Im trying to sell a set of airbags on ebay but crashed into a bit of a wall.

I went to list the listing and it said:

Listings for air bags cannot offer shipping via Royal Mail or Parcelforce since shipment of air bags by these services is prohibited. Therefore, you must select an alternate shipping method for these items and ensure you comply with all applicable shipping regulations.

has anyone ever posted airbags, if so how did you do it, if i cant sell them i guess ill just have to test them at home

Just list it as "Other Courier" or whichever other generic postage company name they use on the drop down menu.

Then post it as normal. Never had a problem sending my 206 steering wheel & airbag for the post office & nobody asked me if I was sending an airbag...

You carnt post airbags.
Or at least you carnt with R/m. They're classified as explosive's.

If your trying to get these shipped out, cover your own back by asking first
If these happen to go off whilst in transit they couid try and sue you.

Iwouidnt bother trying to sell air bags. It ain't worth it mate

Last time I 'tested' an airbag (thankfully on a friend's farm!), I was nearly accidentally responsible for England's first private satellite launch.

Quite impressive how far some of them go up when detonated face down, certainly gave me a new respect for working around them.

The worrying part of it is, when you see how high and how fast they explode is that, everyday, for every minute you are behind the wheel there is that explosive right under your nose...

I blew up clio airbags last year, and i can remember when i was younger with an old merc airbag sitting on my knee trying to detonate it with an old drill battery, thank god it didnt actually go off that time.

Here was the clio airbags going off, a bit of fun, but these things are louder than a shotgun:

jKKbez859q4

I can detonate the drivers side 406 airbag as its no use to me since the multiplexed cars have a different drivers airbag, but the passenger airbag ill need to check part numbers on service box.
It will be interesting to see if the drivers side airbag goes off because according to the sticker its 3 years past its best before date (top left of the sticker):

I am sure it will go off like normal, they just put those dates to cover their arsses and probably give insurers even more reasons not to pay out?

You should have seen how I was handling the airbags when I switched steering wheels on the BMWs - arms length, never pointing in line with a body part. I must have looked right stupid, but having seen how those things explode and knowing how often I get static shocks while wearing my trainers, I wasn't going to take any chances

And under your arse (seatbelt pretensioners), and right behind to your shoulders (side airbags mounted in the seats), in fact the damn things are everywhere nowadays! My bimmer's even got an explosive charge on the positive battery terminal in the boot!

[creepy voice]That would be a nuisance if it went off accidentally[/John Major] :supafrisk: *runs off to look at that report into remotely hacking into car's control systems more closely*

I seem to remember a whole load of precautions for airbags - stuff like don't wear sunglasses/specs, tilt the seat back so you're as far away as possible, be prepared to swallow your false teeth... I like the idea of them possibly saving my life but the thought that if the steering wheel airbag goes off for whatever reason (French electrics anyone?) it'll probably break my nose I find distinctly worrying
