Amazing no-one was killed. It'd be all too easy to get caught up in that even if you were taking every possible care.

The fog was very patchy on my journey this morning - none of it was really thick, but I was amazed at the range of reactions from different drivers, ranging from those who stormed on at 80+ to those that all but stopped. I didn't see any incidents, but I was glad to get it over with.

Somebody shoot the twat that invented auto headlights
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I'm quite surprised this topic didn't arouse more interest than it did :(

Was it that un-interesting that no-one could be arsed to even comment? I thought it was worth posting Image

Haha, pick the dummy up Welters. It was a hell of a shunt alright, saw it on the news last night. Stuff like that scares the crap outta me, could happen so easily and so quickly.

I hardly get time to post on here at all these days unfortunately.

Sorry I was err... sorry  Yep scary stuff, I was a few minutes from being in something smaller a couple of years back. The worst bit is no matter how good your driving, or how good your car is, there are always idiots that don't see the signs and act accordingly.

This particular no-one, (who did comment), wishes to challenge you to a dummy spitting contest. Image

I would do but I can't think of anything now. I'll have a ponder and get back to you...

Just reading this - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-23970047
He said he and his son ran to warn other drivers and warn cars to slow down.
How do you do that? You can't just stand in the carriageway as you're likely to end up as a statistic, so jumping up and down waiving on the hard shoulder? Isn't that more likely to have drivers looking at you wondering what your major malfunction is, rather than looking where they're going? Still, whatever they did must have worked:
"Later, a woman came up to us sobbing saying, 'thank you, thank you, you saved my life'," he said.

Right then welly the dummy spitter :cheesy: i too challenge you to
a dummy spitting and rattle chucking competition  .
It says that 130 cars crashed ? but if you study the photo's a lot of
vehicles have not actually hit anything they have managed to stop in
time , so although they are involved you can't say they have crashed
which makes it nearer the 70 mark ...
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

I wasn't really complaining as such I was just a bit surprised that other than Monsieur Doggy's input no-one else commented on something very much related to our everyday driving (not that there's a pile up in fick thog everyday you understand).

I almost felt silly for posting it, robbed of my foruminess.

Absolutely horrendous, I saw it a couple days ago too. Reading the news story, it sounds like the accident was due to some idiots........ (isn't it always?)

Idiots following too closely and speeding instead of slowing down as they should have, due to the heavy fog.
