As far as I can make out, RDS tells you what station you're listening to (none here, they all play ethnic, plinky plonky or batty boy music) and brings up the traffic news (yeah, like I can understand a word of it).

Actually, the first time I knew the car I was driving had an RDS radio was when I was carrying my grandma about listening to some quiet clasical music and the RDS cut the traffic news in, it was set so loud i swerved and the old dear almost had a heart attack. Off, off, off.

Not fair - I wanted RDS in my 406.....

Oh and its allmost impossible to get a RDS aftermarket head unit here - they broadcast it, but nobody has it except on all the fancy european cars (except for mine because Peugeot Australia ordered their cars without head units to make em cheaper...

I never know where to jack the buggers up, Haynes says on the jacking points on the sill but I don't want to mangle the things. I'd get ramps but I'm usually on my own when I'm working on the car and I'm not so sure about using ramps with no-one telling me when to stop...

I suppose it would help if I had a decent trolley jack but the one I brunged with me's died and I could only get a mickey mouse one here.

Sounds like a good excuse to rip it out and put something decent in!

To be fair it's not been doing it recently in this here cold weather. Seems more of an issue in summer.

It´s the other way around for me. Winter´s coming and so are the "pops and bangs". There´s just no pattern.....

my poping and crackling has move on to a more frequently crackle and hiss. I thinks it because i mess around with it that much trying to fix the crack and bang.

I am 100% sure its a bad connection in the rear of the radio or between the cable and head unit.
