2 days of 2.2 ownership and counting!

Post by gumby6371 »

First thing to say is TORQUE!
I thought my 1.9 was pretty sprightly for it's age and only having 90 horses but the 2.2 is a completely different animal and I love it.

Next the little things on the to-do list so far, all known before buying and a big thanks to Alex for a very thorough and honest test drive;

Remeber that reverse is now by 1st and not by 5th any more!!!!
Thats the biggest issue by far especially if you were the guy on tesco car park last night waiting for me to reverse into a parking space

Air bag light - probably under seat wiring but just need to familiarise myself with the D9 battery removal procedure before tackling that.
Sat Nav cd missing - can it read copies? and if so can someone send me 1 for a few beer tokens?
CD multi changer missing - no biggy but if I spot one cheap I'll pick one up
Get replacement wing prepared for paint and sprayed, same with scratch on drivers door.
Fix dent in sill - metal is dented not holed so I was wondering whether MoT testers would be suspicious of I used filler and assume it had a case of tin worm???

Last niggle and I only noticed last night was the courtesy lights and boot light dont come on.
They work if turned on manually with ignition on and the puddle lights and key in ignition alarm work when the doors are open which presumably rules out bulbs and door/lock switched...thoughts?

Hi, airbag connectors can be done with battery connected, just make sure ignition has been off for a while first...
If you PM me your address I can send you my ' back-up ' copy of a 2005/2006 CD, the latest one available for the 406.

Don't use ordinary body'filler if intending tidying up a sill.
use JB weld. if mot tester then has a good old tap on it it will sound like metal.

I said it in church yesterday, people just stared at me, but it did get their attention. What's the next thing?

You could just put in an mp3 adapter that will store far more - here's an example from the coupe club http://www.406coupeclub.org/PHPBB3/view ... 30&t=35962
(You probably have to join to read it).
Not my subject, someone may have more recent / relevant info?

2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Looks like a good call on the cd replacement and it 'should' fit neatly inside the non-smokers kit.

I'll measure up after work

Oooh, this is *that* 2.2. I'm glad it went to a good home :cheesy:

I guess this lot applies then: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21070&hilit=monkies#p210981 Including the cheaper mp3 (I'd be interested to know if it's any good as I can't justify buying a proper one...)
