The Cheque's in the post (2nd class)

Post by Welly »

At work; a good customer of ours has posted a cheque for £35K on Thurs 5th December and we still haven't received it :o

Now I don't think it was actually posted until Friday night of the 6th Dec, I don't mind that, but that's still 6 x working days ago. I believe they have posted it as they are a great company but if it doesn't arrive in the next day or so I'm going to have to have them cancel it and raise a new one (which can take time) so is unlikely to be banked before the xmas hols :frown: I can't realistically collect a replacement as they're about 5 hrs away but I am preparing to do this on Friday if needed.

I shall be paid my own wages Image but we'll probably have to stiff one of our creditors temporarily if the moneh doesn't arrive sharpish, so it's not very nice as they'll think we're telling porky-pies :frown:

I've only put this here in the hope that someone else can verify that the post is being held up at the moment? it might put my mind at rest.

Surely a cheque for £35k would/should have been sent recorded delivery, you would then have a tracking number to check it's progress :?

I'm glad it's not just me thinking this! Must be completely stupid to send a cheque for £35k 2nd class!
What's less than £2 compared with £35k? :frown:

How big is the company you work for Welly?
I always thought you worked for a fairly big HAVC firm?

If they are good for the money, set up a standing order. 3-5 days the money will be in the bank. Sounds like they are stalling to make payment in Jan :supafrisk:

I would have thought with that amount of money involved a bank transfer would have been the way to go.If the cheque arrived tomorrow,by the time someone has got to the bank to pay it in and then waited for it to clear you'd be knocking on the door of Christmas.

35k cheque in the post? Have they not heard of internet banking?

Also, if I were to post something like that - i'd want it as registered mail. At least you know where it is!

The ONLY! reason for doing this these days is to gain a few days on the money transfer, if it's going to be paid at all.
As others have said internet banking? & it's instant
