New Car advice please
Hi, Moving on from introductions, I hope to get my 2.2 hdi coupe tomorrow. First job is to get the timing belt and waterpump done. The dealer I am buying it fromsaid he put it on diagnostics and it showed a stored fault code, he said it needs a special fluid adding to reservoir and the fuel emission system needs cleaning out, does this sound right? He said he will pay for that to be done but I will have to pay for the belt to be done, is that a fair deal?

Re: New Car advice please
I would definitely get the Cambelt done and leave the emissions crap out of it - you DO NOT want any of that system as it costs a fortune to maintain and it is not needed to pass an MOT.
If the car is in limp mode you could offer a deal on the car and take it away as it stands (in fact that's probably the best deal here thinking about it) your man will probably have to spend £500.00?? anyone?? fixing this and there's really no need even if you have to put up with a lack lustre car for a few weeks until you get sorted.
Best for someone like Doggy on here to explain further because he had trouble with his emissions system and found a way of fixing it independently and a *lot* cheaper than going to the dealers etc..

That's what I meant, it's a waste of money and biker should be able to do a deal which benefits both parties.jonsowman wrote:Mine had a new DPF, tank, fill of dpx fluid, fuel cap sensor and fault codes cleared a few weeks before I bought it. Receipt was for £900![]()
Almost felt bad smashing it to pieces!
I wouldn't even worry about the cambelt yet, it should be changed at 96K miles or 5 years so may have been done in the past. They aren't exactly known for snapping here are they so I think he's got a bit of time in hand.

There's a chap called Al (finchy) on the Coupe Club forum who does de-FAP and other things as a service if you're willing to head up to Tewkesbury for a day
Send him a message.
