Hello pugsters!
So I am reaping the benefits of my harvest. Replaced the recirculating air flap motor. Need to strip away stuff to get at the flap motor. And there's that damn screw behind the removable panel on the side of the dashboard...... Now what was that engineer smoking that day when he thought" that's a good place to put a screw" I'll bet you the guy work on the 406 assembly line loved that engineer too!
And no I didn't replace it when I put it back together.
Any other favorite bad screw positions here?
It is not the possession of truth, but the success which attends the seeking after it, that enriches the seeker and brings happiness to him.

I've come across plenty of idiotically placed fasteners in my time. Put it this way if I ever meet a car or aircraft designer a swift kick to the bollocks will be in short order.

There's been a few but that one does it for me, every time I've been near it it took ages for my hand to heal after. Last time I had the motor out I managed with to pull it out without removing the glove box, it's not easy but anything other than deal with that damn screw again. The bit of steel it sits in is also dished so there's no way you can slip a cage nut on it so the screw is on the more accessible side either. The rhd owners don't seem to moan about it so much, I can't imagine it's easier to get to but maybe they can get their right hands to it as it's on the other end of the dash.
I'd suspect the dash is put together off the car, so the screw will be much easier to get to. Either that or they made some special tool for doing it, I can't imagine PSA would be happy for it to be an hour's job to assemble the glove box and pay for a supply of sticking plasters too...
Designers? What do they care? They don't actually have to do the job
My f*#!%ing annoying screw is the one on the bottom of my Cisco 1841 router, which isn't in a bad place, per se - it's just that it's been made out of the softest aluminium possible, so of course it's completely rounded out. I can't install the memory upgrade I bought for it.
Not really found an irritating screw location on my car.

The KA has one awkward bolt that caused me a nightmare. It's one of the bolts that holds the gearbox to the engine. It requires about 2m of extensions with multiple universal joints to get at!

When I was having problems, I found the screw that holds the double relay in, next to the Engine Management ECU.
Although it doesn't really compete with the top gearbox bolts or rear manifold nuts on Rover SD1 straight 6s.
