yet another write off

Post by trem1 »

I know some of you are aware of this from facebook/other pug forums but i thought i'd share on here as well...............

A neighbour hammered on my door at midnight on Monday shouting that someone had hit my car and was lying on the road injured ( probably a good idea to lie down on the road after hitting my car).
Anyway he was trying to t-bone the house a few doors up and missed cos his mates dragged on the wheel and he hit my car on the o/s rear, moving it forward a good 8 feet and pushing it onto the kerb
Damage thats apparent
rear bumper
rear light
black plastic bits from wheel/arch/under bumper
o/s rear quarter panel is all bent/scratched
but the most important bit is im pretty certain the wheel has moved forwards, Not an accurate measurement i know but i can fit 4 fingers between wheel and arch on n/s but only 3 fingers on the offside.
Confirmed yesterday by the garage that its a write off, but the insurance company is closed till Monday so i have no idea how much they're gonna offer.

So this fucknut was deliberately trying to ram into the side of one of your neighbour's cars, or into their actual house?

Terrible luck for you, but I'm also imagining he's going to have some interesting conversations for a while. Like, with the police, his lawyer, the magistrates, his jailor, his insurance company...

Hope this gets sorted out for you with the minimum hassle.

That was quick work!

Look smart, I'm leaning towards having a 407 estate next.

What's the spec on this one?

It is a late 2006 2.0 Hdi 136bhp Se with cloth seats/bluetooth,etc 89k miles. its a 2 owner car, last owner being a funeral directors wife who had it 5 years and it had a private plate on (JJP30 for anyone interested), advertised at £2995 i got it for £2650, comes with 7 months Mot and 6 months tax.

Thanks guys, on the whole im happy with it just a few bits to do to make it mine, not much but heres the 'to do 'list
2 keys both scabby=replacement covers ordered from ebay
1 key works manually but not the remore locking etc = resync worked so working fine now
engine runs a tad cool but no undertray so i suspect a new tray will sort that out.
Gear gaitor is scabby so i want that replaced as well
Had trafficmaster fitted and an extra 12v socket for charging phones etc = removed.
Needed a good jetwash/outside clean as it had tree sap/grime in all the grooves= sorted
needs tints done= goes in friday for that
needs calipers painted but what colour ??

Sounds like a bargain, has the write off gone or can you salvage some bits before it gets scrapped?

That really is a lot for the money.

Interesting. How cool is cool? (I thought mine -- also missing undertray -- was cool but it turned out to have an 83 degree thermostat.)

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

runs about 80,goes up to 85 then back down to 80, so sounds like mine opens at 83 as well.
Does it tell you in servicebox ??
