Took the car to that Isle of White - THE ROADS!

Post by Welly »

Someone on here lives on the I o W I'm sure? what happened to the roads over there? shocking pot holes and poor surfacing  we went from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and then visited Ryde, Sandown and Shanklin not far I know but then ran out of time and squeezed on the mahoosive Whitelink ferry back with the car on Deck 3. Made me laugh that all the cars with alarms going off on Deck were VW's :supafrisk:

They were all right last time I went - but that was a few years ago.

I went there twice in a couple of weeks about 5 or 6 yrs ago. I drove from East Cowes ferry area to Ventnor and back. The only thing I noticed was that going over the top on the return journey late at night, I couldn't see the road half the time because of the mist/cloud. Agree about the state of them though especially in East Cowes area. Probably the lorries coming off the ferries on those tightish turns.

They've been getting much worse over the last few years. I go to a bike rally in Brighstone every May and we get the ferry into Fishbourne, it's dodge the pothole all the way especially when you get past Yarmouth!

I was over there the other week, the car alarms going off on the ferry was quite amusing indeed.

Although as for the condition of the roads i didnt really notice any problem with them, there are a few too many speed cameras for my liking (we have very few speed cameras here in NI) but the roads felt quite smooth although the ride quality of the 305 might explain that :cheesy:
They are comically narrow them roads, you find yourself pulling over to let cars past quite a bit.

My sussy is ROCK HARD so probably made it feel worse. And yes it was funny seeing all those 14 Plate cars with the alarms going mad, to be honest it was a smooth crossing too hardly a ripple in the sea :? my alarm probably couldn't be bothered......
