Seat leon EML

Post by FarmerPug »

My cousin has a 2003 Seat leon 1.4, it was something that had an engine replaced about 2 years ago and drove fine, he wants to sell it now and buy something diesel, i have been left to solve a problem of an engine management light coming up on the car.
After plugging in the pro scanner it displayed the following codes:

P1116 - Oxygen Sensor Heating B1 S1 Open Circuit
P0140 - Oxygen Sensor B1 S2 No Activity
P1198 - Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit B1 S2 Electrical Malfunction
P1118 - Oxygen Sensor Heating B1 S2 Open Circuit

I assume one is the pre cat and one is the post cat lambda sensor, i see sensors available on ebay but i dont know if its a good idea to buy it a pair of sensors and put them in or if there is actually another problem triggering these codes, could the cat be perished, if so is there a way to diagnose the problem?

Hi.
Might be best to read with M.E.S using VAG KKL Cable

swap sensor's round see if..fault moves,
check inside conector' if you see green clean it up,

This pro scanner hasn't let me down yet on any of the VAG stuff I've used it on, it doesn't do live data reading but its good with reading codes.
The car had second hand lambda sensors fitted after its engine was changed, i thought these sensors have a finite lifetime?
