I reckon everyone is using their mobile phones now, so alarm clocks (and watches, apart from the "look at me!" types) are dying a death.
I mustard mitt t'wife is a morning person so she usually wakes me up. Not that I have much need to get out of bed at the crack of dawn these days but I like to get up fairly early, otherwise it seems like I've wasted half the day.
T'wife does indeed use a mobile phone as an alarm but she usually wakes up before it anyway. Actually, for a while the cat used to wake her up by knocking the phone off the shelf above her bed onto her head. At one point she didn't even bother to set an alarm but I asked her how would that sound at work if she turned up late because the cat forgot...
For many years I had a digital job to wake me up, I hated it so much that even today the "bee-bee-bee-beep, bee-bee-bee-beep" makes me feel ill when I hear it on tv or whatever.
The last alarm clock I bought (from Lidl

) was a clock-radio, I only really bought it because, at the touch of a button, it used a lazer to display the time on the ceiling. I soon fond out it was useless though as we have so many power cuts here, they do have back-up batteries in them but that soon went flat and the time wandered about anyway.
